1. WATCH CYCLING
Conspiracy theory: Were the stolen bicycles that drew all the media attention earlier this week a publicity stunt? OK, back to reality: Kristin Armstrong’s departure from the Exergy Tour isn’t going to make crowds bigger, but top women cyclists still will compete all weekend — and lots of Boiseans will show up to cheer.
2. CHECK OUT HALF A BAND
Maybe it's harsh, but that’s what I’m calling the BoDeans. With co-founder Sam Llanas no longer in the group, it takes on a different dynamic. Still, diehard fans (or “Party of Five” aficionados) will turn out Saturday at the Knitting Factory. Tickets here.
3. TAKE A DRIVE FOR A MEAL
It takes about 45 minutes from Boise’s North End, through Horseshoe Bend, to reach the Triangle Inn in Sweet. The cruise is definitely worth it for the small-town atmosphere and Basque-influenced food, our critic says.
4. TAKE A DRIVE FOR A PARTY
There’s nothing like a street bash in a small mountain town. HD’s Hide Out and Harley’s Pub are holding their 2nd Annual Hillbilly Riot Street Dance in Idaho City on Saturday. There will be multiple bands throughout the day, as well as street vendors. Music runs from noon to 10 p.m.
5. DANCE YOUR #$@ OFF
Mash-up master Gregg Gillis — aka Girl Talk — is visiting the Knitting Factory on Monday night after raging at the Sasquatch Festival over the weekend. Should be off the hook. Read an interview with Gillis May 27 in my new Sunday column. Tickets here.
Warning: Profanity in video.
