Idaho Board of Canvassers to meet next week, certify primary election result

Idaho's 44 counties completed their canvas of ballots cast at the May 15 primary Tuesday, but the official statewide result won't be certified until May 30.

The Board of Canvassers -- Secretary of State Ben Ysursa, Controller Donna Jones and Treasurer Ron Crane -- will meet at 3 p.m. May 30 in Ysursa's office to certify the vote. The meeting is in Ysursa's conference room, E-205, on the east side of the Capitol, second floor.

Ysursa has estimated turnout at a historically low 23 percent. That figure, which is based on the number of registered voters, will be officially set by the board. Calculating turnout requires a count of those who registered to vote on Election Day.
