A change on the homepage

When we launched our redesigned website in April, we said that we would go back and tweak the design as needed. I want to let you know about a minor change on our homepage.

We have moved the "Recent Galleries" to the top right of the homepage, where "Most Popular Pages" was. We did this for a couple of reasons.

1) We know that our photo galleries are extremely popular with readers and we want to put them at the top of the page to make them even easier to find.

2) We know that the most-read stories list often includes the same stories as the top-stories list on the left. We want to avoid the story duplication on the top of the page. (You'll find the most-read stories list lower on the homepage.)

If the new location doesn't work well for readers who view the photo galleries, it is easy for us to move back to the original spot.

Let me know what you think.

Most of the page is duplicated 15 ways and tedious anyway.

The pop-up advertising is......

The most annoying thing I have ever encountered on any website. My assumption is that it is there because your advertising revenue is so lacking you need to take drastic action to stay in business. Annoying!

AVG Free 2012 now does that to a simple degree, IE8 too

Cain't help it if y'all wanna be lazy.

Front page

I always thought the front page of a newspaper was for the most important timely news. Now most of it is buried on later pages & the important front page is used for interesting stories; not news. Also it is used to promote democrats.

Do you believe in same-party politics? Then Democrats are 4 YOU.

pop ups are awful but

The video ads with sound that you can't close until after several seconds are even worse. Overall, I still find the home page to be too busy with far too much content placed all over the page. For instance, why is the top of the page titled "Top Stories" and then the section just below titled "Top News Stories?" Also in need of some serious work is the mobile web page, which often lists 2-3 duplicates of the same stories...
