Kuna High hires Deatherage as next boys basketball coach

Kuna High Boys Athletic Director Dave Beymer announced Thursday that Brian Deatherage will take over as the school's next varsity boys basketball coach.

“I am confident that Coach Deatherage's leadership will continue to improve the quality of our boys basketball program,” Beymer said in a press release.

Deatherage previously coached at Middleton High from 2004-08, helping the Vikings make the transition from the 3A to 4A classification. He also led the Vikings to two consecutive 4A state tournaments. Before his time at Middleton, Deatherage was an assistant coach at Skyview High from 2001-04.

“I am extremely excited for a continued opportunity to teach and coach in an outstanding community with a growing athletic tradition,” Deatherage said. “The students at Kuna High School are exceptional and will continue to work hard and get better.”

Deatherage replaces Randy Brothers who resigned in April to take the same position at Nampa Christian High.
