District 17 House B: Incumbent Sue Chew declines to debate Nielson, says she's focusing on door-to-door campaign

Boise pharmacist Sue Chew is running for her fourth term in the Idaho State Legislature, District 17 House B.

In the May 15 Democratic primary, she faces Greg Nielson. Nielson, 30, is a small business owner.

Nielson said last week that he challenged Chew to a debate after hearing from constituents that they'd like to see one. Chew said Monday that she declined the debate because she doesn't have time — and no one that she's spoken with has requested one.

"I'm focusing on input from individuals and their family at the door," said Chew, noting that she's spoken to about 1,000 people at their homes so far. "Their issues, their problems, their ideas."
