Five Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

When you aren't poring over your new Spider-Man and Superman schwag from Free Comic Book Day on Saturday ...

1. BE DAZZLED
Tonight at “Pop Goes the Rock” at the Morrison Center, Cirque Dreams will assemble aerialists, acrobats, dancers and other amazing artists — more than 100 costumed characters in all. They'll perform to a mash-up of contemporary hits played by a band on stage. Get tickets here.

2. WORK OUTSIDE
SWIMBA is seeking volunteers to help with trail projects Sunday at Avimor. Meet at 9 a.m. and plan to work until 3 p.m. Bring water, good shoes, gloves and a snack. Work will be followed by a barbecue. To get there, take Idaho 55 north and turn right into Avimor on Avimor Drive. Take the next left and look for the SWIMBA crew. Plan to go? Email dhfreak@msn.com or call 350-3815 so enough food will be available.

3. MARCH TO THE DRUMS
Like The Smiths? You'll probably dig Brooklyn indie-pop band The Drums, who will rock at Reef on Sunday night. If not, the video below may horrify you. Openers are Craft Spells and Part Time. Tickets are $15 at the door. Show starts at 8 p.m.

4. SNOOP ON THE OWLS
Hit Hulls Gulch at 9 a.m. Sunday for a free family birding walk with the Golden Eagle Audobon Society. A highlight will be seeing great-horned owls in their nests. Meet in the parking lot off 8th Street next to the Foothills Learning Center. For details, call Pam Conley, 869-0337, or email pam_conley@q.com.

5. BE ARTSY IN … GARDEN CITY?
You know it, baby. “An Artistic Taste of Garden City” is a community celebration of art, music and theater Sunday to benefit the Garden City Library. There will be artists in action, music and food (including beer and wine tasting) at Woman of Steel Gallery and the Visual Arts Collective. It's $25 advance, $30 at the door. Get all the details here.

I don't think anybody even sells comic books in Ontario?

I haven't even gone out to get the mail but I'm betting the rain was unanimous.
