Boise State to open NCAA men's tennis tournament against Florida State

By Brian Murphy

Boise State's men's tennis team will play Florida State in the first round of the 64-team NCAA tournament in Athens, Ga., on May 12. The Broncos (26-6) are in the same pod as No. 2 national seed Georgia (23-2) and South Carolina State (17-2). Florida State is 18-9.

The Broncos were seeded between 33 and 48 in the field. Florida State is seeded between 17 and 32, while South Carolina State is seeded between 49 and 64.

Boise State earned its spot in the tournament by winning the Mountain West tournament, defeating New Mexico State 4-0 in the final. The Broncos have won 18 of their last 19 matches. Boise State's lone loss in that stretch was to No. 1 overall seed USC on March 26.

It marks Boise State's seventh NCAA appearance in the last eight seasons — the Broncos missed last year — and its 15th appearance overall. The Broncos advanced to the quarterfinals in 1997.

If the Broncos win, they will play the winner of Georgia-South Carolina State on May 13.
