Ballet Idaho's Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye leaves for Kansas City.

Ballet Idaho principal dancer Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye is moving on. Jolicoeur Nye took at 38-week contract with Kansas City Ballet, where he will start in the fall.

Jolicoeur-Nye practically grew up in Ballet Idaho. He came to Boise at 19 as part of the Ballet Idaho-Eugene Ballet hybrid under Toni Pimble. When the two companies split in 2008, Jolicoeur-Nye was one of three dancers who stayed to become the foundation of the new Ballet Idaho under Peter Anastos.
Last year, he moved into a principle position and debuted as a choreographer with a strong contemporary piece “City Symphony.”

Anastos and executive director Paul Kaine are working to bring Jolicoeur-Nye back in the fall to set a new ballet on the company.
