1. CRANK THOSE BAGPIPES!
You don’t need the luck of the Irish on Saturday. You just need a list of live music highlights on St. Patrick’s Day. Or a guide to restaurants and pubs serving up Irish food. Or the schedule for the Boise Highlanders bagpipe attack. Just watch out for evil leprechauns Downtown ...
2. HIT THE MONSTER JAM
Deafening engines, gigantic tires and car-crushing mayhem. Oh, and the Lucas Oil Crusader (below)? What else could a kid (or grown-up kid) want? Witness the action tonight and Saturday (matinee and evening show) at the Idaho Center.
3. GET SPRUNG FOR SPRING
You don't have to be a North Ender to learn how to raise chickens. Get the insight at the Boise Spring Home Show, which is going on now through Sunday at Expo Idaho. This year, four homeowners will win a $2,500 backyard makeover.
4. HAVE SOME COFFEY
Prolific singer-songwriter Bill Coffey and his Cash Money Cousins will celebrate the release of his new CD on Saturday evening. Boise Contemporary Theater is a great place to see music. The voice of opener Catherine Merrick should sound beautiful in that room’s acoustics. Tickets here.
5. WEAR OUT THE KIDS
Saturday is “Open Gym Day” from 9 a.m. to noon at Hillside Junior High, Les Boise Junior High and South Junior High. It’s part of Let’s Move Boise, which aims to “get kids movin’ with basketball, hula hoops, jump ropes, indoor tennis with the Idaho Tennis Association and floor hockey provided by the Idaho Steelheads.” It’s free, but kids in fifth grade or under must have an adult along.
