Josh Romney blames Obama; his dad, and Idaho's Luna, finger Santorum in robocall flap

During Josh Romney's visit to Meridian Tuesday he called out President Obama for urging Democrats to cross over and vote for anyone but Mitt Romney in Tuesday's Michigan primary.

"They don't want to face my dad," Romney told a crowd of about 100, saying the president and United Auto Workers were behind the automated calls. "President Obama does not want to run against my dad, so he's encouraging everyone in Michigan -- all the Democrats -- to vote for the other guys, don't vote for Mitt. It's a good sign for us, but it's making life tough in Michigan."

Romney pulled out a critical 3-point win Tuesday, after blasting Rick Santorum for doing what his son attributed to the president.

The candidate called Santorum's automated phone calls to Democrats -- reminding them that Romney opposed bailing out the U.S. auto industry -- a "dirty trick" Tuesday. Santorum omitted mention of the fact that he too opposed taxpayer loans to Detroit.

"I think Republicans have to recognize there's a real effort to kidnap our primary process," Romney said. "And if we want Republicans to nominate the Republican who takes on Barack Obama, I need Republicans to get out and vote and say no the the dirty tricks of a desperate campaign."

Santorum defended his tactics, saying Romney's own robocalls twisted what Santorum himself had said about Romney.

Tuesday afternoon and this morning, I emailed the Romney campaign asking for comment on Josh Romney's misstatement or evidence that Obama was behind the calls. I've received no reply as of 1 p.m. Wednesday.

But I did get this from the Boston campaign headquarters: An invitation to listen in on a conference call on the robocall issue that will include Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna.

"Republicans Call On Rick Santorum To Stop Teaming Up with Democrats," is the headline on the news advisory.

The 1:30 p.m. call will include Luna, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu, Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens, Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, Delegate Barbara Comstock, R-Va., Alaska Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and former U.S. Treasurer Bay Buchanan.

Their aim? To "call on Rick Santorum to stop teaming up with Democrats in future Republican contests."

Anything to win

Hey it's nice to the the Republicans working with the Democrats. Finally some cooperation!

It's like watching a circus

It's like watching a circus act with this group of Republican candidates.

Josh Romney's misstatement?

Wow, Dan, that was generous.

You know Dan Popoff isn't

You know Dan Popoff isn't gonna do ANYTHING unless it denigrates the right

Well...

He didn't "denigrate the right" with his comment.

Josh Romney was flat out wrong. On an issue that has been WIDELY publicized in pretty much EVERY media outlet. So... either he's just totally uninformed or he's a liar.

And all Dan said was "mistreatment" Pretty generous given where he could have gone.

Your characterization of Dan sounds a bit like jumping at shadows to me.

Well said Redneck!

That's his trademark!

No help needed!

Dan can't possibly do any worse to the Right then they are already doing to themselves. It's a hoot for sure!

"Tuesday afternoon and this

"Tuesday afternoon and this morning, I emailed the Romney campaign asking for comment on Josh Romney's misstatement or evidence that Obama was behind the calls. I've received no reply as of this writing."

Liar? Lol..Like father like son? - No im sure there is some 6 degrees of seperation Kevin Bacon thingy that will link Obama because he had cereal in a crowded restaurant where one of Santorums aids girlfriends best friends aunts cousins niece was at. Lol I love Kooky Republicans.

Bring on the clowns

The democrats are coming, bring on the head clown OBAMA

Check out videos on "The Daily Show" for dad's take

on voting in an open primary. Stewart pulled video of Romney from 2007 gleefully admitting he would vote in the Democratic primary for just this purpose of acting as a spoiler.

What a buffoon.

I saw that...very funny (and telling) stuff

But, I think Romney didn't say he "would vote in the Democratic party"...I thought he said he DID vote against Kennedy (for his competition) in the Democratic primary.

That's one reason I truly love Jon Stewart's show...he's become the great equalizer to both sides of the aisle.

He finds the flip-flops and parodies them for all to see.

Sad that satirical comedy shows tell us more about these

candidates than news shows. The national mass media appears to just want to repeat the talking points of the candidates. It's frustrating to see so many half-truths and outright lies spoken by politicians without much questioning or calling out by the MSM.

Romney

he is just as sickening as his Dad with plastic smile phoney and pathetic just like Otter

clown car

The republicans are so pathetic they wonder about getting someone else in now to run, what a joke.Go Obama

You have to admit

It's entertaining watching the Republican's eat their young!!!

Romney just wishes

he'd thought of 'robocall' first! He tells people what they think they want to hear (sounds like BO). The media is trying to tell voters how to vote (no surprise). We each have a brain, hopefully most of us use them and aren't totally influenced by the crap in the media. Research and make your own decisions folks. And those still thinking BO is the savior, BaaBaaBaa, he's a puppet, Soros is the puppetmaster.

I've never thought of any man as my savior...

Soros? Does the Prez hobnob with him?
