Boise State sending four to NCAA swimming championships

Boise State's women's swimming and diving program — in its sixth year – will send a school-record four swimmers to the NCAA championships in Auburn, Ala., from March 15-17.

Seniors Amber Boucher and Stephanie North will be making their second consecutive appearances in the national meet. Junior Stevie Hughey and freshman Sydney Johansen were also invited to compete.

Boise State, which won the Mountain West title last week, is the first MW program to qualify a relay team for the nationals and its four participants are the most by a Mountain West school in the same season.

The swimming program is the first Boise State team to win a Mountain West championship. Boucher was named conference athlete of the year for the third consecutive year, joining former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore as the only Broncos to achieve that milestone.

Boise State finished 39th in last year's event, thanks to Boucher's five points. Coach Kristin Hill said the program is hoping for a top-25 finish this season.

Divers Amanda Burnett and Ciera Cortney can qualify for the national meet on March 8-10.

That's very cool

The rapid success of the swim/dive teams along with the softball team bodes well for the University.
