Democrat takes another run at Ada County commission spot

Larry Rincover is taking another run at a spot on the Ada County commission.

Rincover, a Democrat, announced his plans to run late Tuesday. Rincover lost to Commissioner Rick Yzaguirre in November 2010.

This year, Rincover could be running in commission District 1 against former Boise police chief and City Council member Jim Tibbs, who announced his campaign on the Republican ticket this week.

The District 3 commission spot is also on the ballot, and redistricting could force incumbents Sharon Ullman and Vern Bisterfeldt to square off in the May GOP primary. Ullman is running, but Bisterfeldt’s plans are unclear. (Here’s a link to a story from the Statesman’s

Here’s Rincover’s news release:

Larry Rincover announced today that he will file his candidacy for the 1st district seat on the Ada County Commission. Rincover, 66, is a real estate consultant. He has lived in Ada County for over 30 years and was a candidate for the commission in 2010.

“I believe I can bring a new perspective to the Commission: Perhaps something different from ‘business as usual.’ A citizen approach rather than the approach of a career politician," Rincover said.

“Ada County is the largest county in Idaho with a population of almost 400,000. I think my background, experience and commitment are exactly what's needed to be sure it's governed efficiently and effectively."
