Boise State defeated Air Force 72-61 in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday evening, giving the Broncos their first Mountain West victory. Boise State was 0-7 in league play before the win.
It was also the first road victory for Boise State this season, and the Broncos' first win of 2012.
Freshman guard Joe Hanstad had a career-high 19 points. Hanstad led five Boise State players in double figures.
Freshman Anthony Drimic had his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
Pregame notes
Boise State senior guard Westly Perryman has been suspended for Saturday's game at Air Force, the school announced today.
Perryman was the only Boise State player to start every game this season and is one of two seniors on the roster. He is averaging 6.8 points in 27 minutes per game.
“We were hired to build this program with character, unselfishness and a positive team attitude,” Boise State coach Leon Rice said. “Instilling these core values in our team is the key to our long-term success both on and off the floor. Wes made a decision that didn’t reflect these core values. We want to help Wes and all our players learn to be successful, and as a result we have suspended Wes for tonight’s game.
Boise State (10-12, 0-7 in the MW) is still seeking its first Mountain West victory and its first road victory.

Couldn't resist could you blkshoe?
It must suck being such an angry person.
Humor
Life will be much more enjoyable for you Windex when you finally develop a sense of humor.
blkshoe isnt trying to be funny
Go back to being a hateful bigot and leave these blogs to the big boys. Windex has more class in his pinkie finger than you have in your whole soul.
kunan, you wouldn't
know a sense of humor if it dropped on you.
Looks like the Broncos will get a W
Much needed and hopefully something to build on.
They finally found
their three point shot on the road
I think they need to stop throwing up so many 3s
It seems that rely on it WAY too much. They should, unless one of them suddenly gets the hot hand, only be shooting beyond the arc once every 3 or 4 shots. Although exciting, the Broncos should find more success if they make high-percentage shots and tighten up their defense.
§ Better yet
let's have another line about 24-feet away and make that worth 4. Out of bounds at that point is n/a. The line extends behind the benches and can go four rows deep ("Excuse me lady, hold onto that hat"). Then one at 28-feet for 5 (eight rows deep as long as the elevation isn't more than 6 feet above floor level). Anything beyond half court is 6 and the kicker lines it up in the center circle. If he makes it (with either Meadowlark Lemon or Curly Neal holding), that's 2 more. Just hitting the backboard is worth 1.
Jerry Markbreit, Mike Carey, or Ed Hochuli will serve as the replay officials. Coach arguments will result in a swift takedown. One point deduction.
If you can toss it in from the far baseline, it's immediate game over and party time.
____________
The 3-pointer ... worst implementation ever. Is the basket the goal or the far, far away goal? Three points should be awarded (if at all) for something close, not far (as in lazy-azzed basketball) away.
Right after the refs start calling waltzing.
No, not advocating a center jump after each basket.
A basketball friend
Of mine actually had a pretty good idea. Take away the 3 point line and count all shots made with under 10 seconds on the shot clock as 3.....
§ Nope, no 3s
unless the Ukraine, Poland, Uzbekistan, Tasmania, Borneo, lesser Antilles, and Declo (ID) judges award an average of 9.4 on the effort. Artistic merit and level-of-difficulty are weighted equally.
Official weights to be determined at the weigh station at mile marker 66.5 on I-84 just east of Boise.
Way to go Broncos!
You beat a team that is so bad that they had to fire their coach mid-season for losing 6 conference games in a row. That's almost as bad as our MWC record. Side note: It's pretty sad when a team gets its first road win in February.
Big win for the Broncos
It is great the Broncos are getting their injured players back. They are such a young team, but the future looks bright. I wonder if there is a possibility the men's and women's basketball teams could join football in the Big East?
