Rocky Mountain High girls soccer player named Gatorade Idaho player of year

Senior Brooke Heidemann of Rocky Mountain High was named the 2011-12 Gatorade Idaho Girls Soccer Player of the Year on Thursday. Heidemann is the first Gatorade Idaho Girls Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Rocky Mountain.

The 5-foot-5 midfielder led the Grizzlies to a 15-1-4 record and the 5A state championship this past season. Heidemann finished with 14 goals and 24 assists while being named the player of the year in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference.

A National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Far West Region selection, Heidemann recorded an assist in Rocky Mountain’s 1-0 state championship win over Boise. She concluded her prep career with 42 goals and 64 assists.

“Brooke is an extraordinary player who possesses tremendous soccer abilities and leadership skills,” Meridian coach Steve Lynch said in a press release. “Without her, Rocky Mountain would not have achieved its success, especially the state title.”

Heidemann has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Boise State beginning this fall.
