A selection of rare, decades-old posters immortalizing Idaho's Sun Valley is set to be auctioned off at Swann Auction Galleries’ Vintage Poster Sale, Feb. 2, in New York.

The posters, honoring America’s first destination ski resort, include Dwight Clark Shepler’s sunny advertisement for the Chicago and North Western Lines - “Round House” on Baldy Mountain (estimated at 3,000 to $4,000).  The rail line took passengers from Chicago to Omaha, where they then boarded Union Pacific trains to Sun Valley.

Also available is a Union Pacific Railroad advertisement, depicting a skier racing down a Sun Valley mountain (estimated at $4,000 to $6,000).

Sun Valley is also known as a year-round destination and is illustrated by a warm-weather poster depicting vacationers on horseback (estimated at $2,000 to $3,000.

Those who cannot attend the sale may place bids in advance via telephone, fax, mail, or email, and Swann’s staff will bid on his or her behalf.  One can also make advance arrangements to bid by telephone during the auction.
