Eagle High senior quarterback Tanner Mangum was the third quarterback to take the field for the white team in Thursday's Under Armour High School All-America Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder entered the game with 5 minutes, 45 seconds to play in the second quarter. Mangum went 1-for-3 in his first series, completing a 7-yard pass with one interception.
Mangum returned to the field on the white team's ensuing possession, where he rebounded by completing four passes for 52 yards, including one near-TD pass which ESPN recruiting director Tom Luginbill called "an exceptionally well-thrown football."
Mangum's pass on fourth-and-2 with less than a 1 minute to go before halftime was batted down, but the white team entered the locker room with a 20-3 lead.
The Idaho standout was thrown a curveball before the start of the second half. After two quarterbacks on the black team were ruled out with injuries, Mangum was asked to suit up as the No. 2 quarterback for the black team behind Clemson commit Chad Kelly.
Mangum cordially agreed to swap sidelines, and Luginbill called the Eagle quarterback "the ultimate team guy. Great attitude, great kid."
Mangum saw time in both the third and fourth quarters despite not being familiar with the black team's playbook. He finished the game 7-for-15 for 83 yards. Mangum was intercepted twice in the second half, but both were on tipped balls.
Near the end of the broadcast, Luginbill said that Mangum was his MVP pick because of his selflessness, which he said deserved an ovation.
"He epitomizes what a team game is all about," Luginbill said.
Florida State commit Jameis Winston — the starting quarterback for the white team — was named the game's MVP, leading the white team to a 49-16 victory.

OK so I'm not crazy.
Saw Tanners possessions at the end of the half with the White. Then saw him on the Black team at the end of the third and start of the fourth. Wish him all the luck.
Saw that too,
glad I'd only had one drink, or I'd have been really confused....Sunny...
