Bishop Kelly runner commits to Syracuse

Bishop Kelly High senior Emily Nist recently made a verbal commitment to run cross country and track for Syracuse.

The Orange have won the Northeast Region in cross country the last two years and have been ranked in the top 15 among NCAA Division I teams each of the last five seasons.

Nist wrapped up her high school career with a third individual state cross country championship in October, as well as three appearances in national championship events. Her career highlights include a win at the 2008 USATF Junior Olympic National Championships and a course record win at the 2008 NXN Northwest Regional Championships.

The BK standout will attempt to win her fourth consecutive 4A state championship in the 3,200 meters this spring during the track and field season.

Nist also had offers to run for Arizona, Duke, Cal Poly, Washington and Oregon State.

Below is a list of other college commitments reported to the Idaho Statesman.

This list includes Treasure Valley athletes (2012 graduates unless otherwise noted) who have either signed a letter of intent or have verbally committed to compete for a college or university. The information was provided to the Statesman by high school coaches and administrators or by club team officials. College commitments and signings can be sent to rroberts@idahostatesman.com.
