The State Board of Education on Thursday approved several tweaks to Boise State football coach Chris Petersen’s contract.

The vote was 6-0 with two board members absent.

Petersen’s automatic one-year extensions for every season in which the Broncos win eight games now will include a $100,000 raise, double the previous contracted amount.

His bonus for a Bowl Championship Series berth (now $150,000) or a conference championship (now $100,000) has been increased by $25,000.

Petersen’s total compensation, including longevity bonuses and supplemental retirement contributions, will be $1.525 million this year. That amount increases by $100,000 every subsequent year, to $1.925 million in 2015. With two more wins, he will be guaranteed $2.025 million in 2016.

The first year in which Thursday’s action increases Petersen’s salary is 2015, the year added to his contract when the Broncos won eight games last year.

Petersen’s buyout is $650,000.

The State Board also reviewed some technical changes to the contract.

Boise State has released 200 tickets for Saturday's game against Air Force. They're available at

We're giving away a pair of tickets to the Boise State-Air Force game. To enter, follow me on Twitter (@IDS_BroncoBeat). If you already follow me, send me a tweet. The deadline is noon MT Friday. We'll pick one winner.

Four F-15Es from Mountain Home Air Force Base will provide the flyover at the game.

A stat correction has changed the Broncos’ tackles chart. Junior linebacker J.C. Percy is now tied with cornerback Jamar Taylor for the lead with 24 tackles.

Last week, I asked Percy about Taylor and cornerback Quaylon Ewing-Burton leading the team in tackles.

“They’ve been playing well,” he said. “That’s good for them. But we’re going to catch up to them.”

He didn’t waste any time getting there.

Boise State left tackle Nate Potter made another midseason All-America team — this one from He’s on the first team. Defensive tackle Billy Winn made the second team.

The way it’s looking, Potter could be a consensus All-American at season’s end.

Check Brian Murphy’s blog for some notes on the Mountain West exit fee, the Mountain West playoff plan and Petersen’s request that fans not boo Air Force.

Give it up. You are not blind. We dispelled that myth a year ago. Now, all of the sudden with people pushing for you to be banned, you try to lie again.

Say, if you are blind, how can you even have an opinion on Football seeing as anything you say would just be spoon fed to you by someone who could see? Its old weisberg. You are not blind. You have much wrong with you, anger, boredom, sadness. Perhaps you are metophorically blinded. You need to stop using a real handicap to excuse your fake behavior. Your postings are bad enough but if you really were blind you would be insulting a whole community with your behavior.

PS Did you SEE how bad UCLA basketball looks this year.....

potato head

big smiles be happy potato head go boise high

las vegas bowl mwc champion vs pac 12 fifth place

good bowl game for mwc

That wouldnt be too bad of a

Boise v USC or Washington?

Won't be UCLA

Man are the Bruins stinking up the joint tonight. Talk about bad football, they are making Arizona look like natty contenders. P.U.

But wait

they are AQ.............they are automatically good......

That's funny

T Funk- I can't help but laugh at those who feel that the logo on the helmet and a team's 50 year history is what matters in determining how good a team is. Never mind what they do on the grid iron week in and week out.

USC is under a bowl ban...... VNDL says you know more about football than you let on but you have been ignorant about some pretty basic stuff. Like why BSU cant go to the Rose and like USC going to a bowl. Pretty basic stuff..... BUT I grant you that your knowlge is tripple what it was a few short months ago. Kuddos for studying and puttin in the effort to better your football knowlege.

Anyone who scans these boards is bound to pick up a thing or two......

If you ran X-Country for Capital in 1975, then we both were there at the same invitationals....

Have a good Board Meeting tomorrow....provide some good ideas for a memorial....

First meet here was out at TVCC.......

In 1975, My first X-Meet was at

TVCC....I made the varsity team my freshman year....I remember all the Boise schools were there, plus many others....that same year, we ran in two other invitationals in Boise; both at Ann Morrison Park....I remember Capital being the best ones in 1975 and 1976 I think Borah and Nampa started taking over?

Well ugly

We more than likely ran against each other. That first meet my brother and I ran JV (we had just moved up from California). I remember that one because some kid took a short cut and finished ahead of my brother and I. I don't remember much about the rest of the races in 75, I think we finish 3rd at state. I only ran one race in 76 because I needed my knee done for Baseball.

Small world

I hesitated on USC and was going to put California, but at time I thought California had the bowl ban....sometimes I miss one or two....

PS....have fun in Italy....I'll make a Board Meeting in November and we can discuss spuds....

Ran into Harly Slackwater the other day at the gas station. He was a fuelin his 78 Dodge Power Wagen. It's Black and Gold, by the way. Nice old boy, he really is. He had just been to the Youth Ranch and had a load of materials: 2 used toilets, a sink, 1 window, 2 doors, a shower enclosure. Said he was a headed to ButtDucks trailer. Had a job to recondition a few things. Says he'll install this stuff but ButtDuck will have to cleam em. When I inquired about the 18 foot length of heavy chain, he stated he was a partnerin up with the Buttduck...he'd haul off those 18 old vehicles and they'd split the scrap metal money. When I said that sounded like some cash in his pocket, he informed me that "wadn't" all..he also partnered up to do the same gig haulin off the 35 washers, dryers, BBQ's fridges, and lawnmowers!! Well, when I told him all work and no play wasn't too much fun, he says he and ol ButtDuck was gonna watch BSU Oregon game VCR tape replays! He had a sack of groceries for the replays, skittles, port rinds, bean dip, pickled pigs feet, mountain oysters, and a half rack of Hamm's. Says ole Duck was reimbursin him on the feast....
Told me he felt it might take a couple weeks or so.....he was burnin some vacation time from the night watchmans job and Buttduck got laid off from the sewer plant...
Small world....

nice work funk

i admire the catalog you have compiled. the above was a great post. ol harley has either been scarce material or has changed his name to someguy.

I have to say that in my quest to secure Wiz quotes I have ran across some of the most amazing posts. VNDL, JLandon, P2, you, and many more, that I have read have been something.......
