Workers at the Idaho National Laboratory were allowed back outside this morning after a wildfire approached the complex that stores spent nuclear fuel.
Normal work has resumed, Department of Energy officials reported this morning. There is no known radiological hazard to the public at this time.
The range fire grew to 35,000 acres Friday. It forced federal officials to order workers to stay inside the Materials and Fuels Complex and the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center Thursday night.
Fire crews were trying to contain the fire, now the largest in the nation, on the Department of Energy site 38 miles west of Idaho Falls. Winds were minimal this morning but expected to increase this afternoon.
Multiple bulldozer crews from the lab and the Bureau of Land Management are fighting the fire this morning. Five air tankers and several single engine planes are on standby status.

INL's report:
-...personnel at the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Energy Center (INTEC) are no longer being asked to remain inside
Yesterday:
-Personnel at the Idaho Nuclear Technology and Energy Center (INTEC) have taken shelter at the facility as a precaution.
-All non-essential personnel have been evacuated from MFC as a precaution.
Rocky's version:
Fire forces nuclear workers to stay inside at INL
****
The Rock's headline might make a reader think the workers were cut-off from an escape or the flames were so intense even the weatherman was "FORCED" to stay inside.
But a frequent reader of the Rock Blog knows to find the real story elsewhere. So this is just becoming entertainment here!
