DirecTV begins adding The Mtn. to Choice package in Idaho

By Brian Murphy

Boise State fans with DirecTV may have noticed a change in their television guide. DirecTV has begun adding The Mtn. (616) to its Choice package — its lowest tier of service — and above.

DirecTV plans to add the channel to the Choice package and above in all Idaho zip codes, though that process is ongoing. The company said it will be added before the start of football season.

In other words, customers in Idaho will not need a Sports Pack subscription to view The Mtn., which airs three Boise State football games this year. Boise State's games with Colorado State (Oct. 15), Wyoming (Nov. 26) and New Mexico (Dec. 3) will be on The Mtn.

According to DirecTV, customers outside of the following areas will need Sports Pack to view The Mtn: Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and the DMAs of Dallas, San Diego, Albuquerque-Santa Fe, Denver, Cheyenne, Rapid City, Salt Lake City.

Update: To answer some of the questions from the comments, you will need at least Choice Extra to get CBS Sports Network (formerly CBS College Sports) and Versus (soon-to-be NBC Sports Network). The channels are airing six Boise State games this year, three each.

News I've heard all day, thanks Murph.

Once Again,

Thanks to Directv. This is why I have stayed with them over the years. One of the best for addressing issues like this..... Best part, for the first time in several years, I will get to see a few regular season BB games again. I think Leon Rice has the makings of a great team this year....

The Mtn added here in Boise, ID 83716

The Mtn (616) was added to my DirecTV Choice package here in Boise (83716) this past weekend. Versus aka NBC College Sports and CBS College Sports are not available with the Choice package.

When did NBCUni get VS?

Hopefully Cableone will follow suit....

CableOne respond to customer desires????

You must be kidding. Oh....I'm sorry. If you come up with more money they'll get it for you. Not that I'm saying they're greedy or anything like that. Just sayin..........

Slow on the draw

I went to Twin Falls today to do some stuff and stopped by the Cableone office. A few weeks ago, they had not heard about the MTN. Today they knew all about it.

Well, now they have a lady who is real busy just handling setting that stuff up. Were about 3 in the line ahead of me just signing up to be able to watch BSU.

I got my new HD black box and controll stick today and signed up for the new $15.00 package that includes the MTN.

Better late than never, I guess.

The MTN will be channel 329 on Cableone.

Direct TV

Me thinks I will be dropping Dish very soon! It seems like they do not care what the customer wants. The last time I called Dish to whine about the lack of The Mtn, the customer disservice rep did tell me that it was the MOST requested channel addition request. Not that it means they will be adding anytime soon.

Me thinks that makes (at least) two of us....Sunny...

How about CBS college sports?

Great news, have you heard anything on CBS (613) on Direct TV?

Anybody with a clue knew DirecTV would add the Mtn so all the whining was for naught... I'm a little surprised (and happy!) that it'll be part of the basic package for locals, and won't be part of the extra add-on "Sports Pack." Good news!

What about Dish Network? Any chance they will add any of these sports channels to their lower tiered packages?

Have a good time, you rabid sales tax avoiders.

Better Options...

Not surprised about this at all. I had DirecTV and always had problems with the signal, especially anytime it rained. My installer came out to "adjust" the dish, but it never worked reliably. After a few months, I had to cancel. I get my TV online from TVDevo. Have used it for a while and it's reliable.

I believe you are not Jenny but her e-vil triplet.
