Boise State fans with DirecTV may have noticed a change in their television guide. DirecTV has begun adding The Mtn. (616) to its Choice package — its lowest tier of service — and above.
DirecTV plans to add the channel to the Choice package and above in all Idaho zip codes, though that process is ongoing. The company said it will be added before the start of football season.
In other words, customers in Idaho will not need a Sports Pack subscription to view The Mtn., which airs three Boise State football games this year. Boise State's games with Colorado State (Oct. 15), Wyoming (Nov. 26) and New Mexico (Dec. 3) will be on The Mtn.
According to DirecTV, customers outside of the following areas will need Sports Pack to view The Mtn: Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and the DMAs of Dallas, San Diego, Albuquerque-Santa Fe, Denver, Cheyenne, Rapid City, Salt Lake City.
Update: To answer some of the questions from the comments, you will need at least Choice Extra to get CBS Sports Network (formerly CBS College Sports) and Versus (soon-to-be NBC Sports Network). The channels are airing six Boise State games this year, three each.
