Speakers promoting controversial conspiracy theories may be hurting ticket sales, according to Tea Party Boise, which is making a late push to improve attendance at an event this weekend.
Steven Jones, a physicist who founded Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice, will keynote "Awake and Arise America" set for Northwest Nazarene University's Brandt Center Friday and Saturday in Nampa.
Scholars for 9/11 Truth and Justice says government and industry insiders had "foreknowledge of the time, place, and nature of the attack of September 11, 2001." The group questions whether airplanes could have destroyed the Twin Towers and suggests a cover up.
The second keynote speaker is Jack Monnett, an LDS historian and author of, "Awakening to our Awful Situation: Warnings from the Nephi Prophets." Monnett explores the Book of Mormon's account of "Secret Combinations" and how they infiltrated government at the highest levels, and argues such conspiracies are afoot today.
According to a Tuesday night email from Tea Party Boise, "...there may be frustrations about religious affiliations or the fact that the speakers may speak on controversial issues, but are we really not then just looking for excuses to not attend? As many of you know, what we once knew as mere conspiracy theories today have varying degrees of truth. Are we willing like so many other people today to turn our head thinking if we ignore the possibilities that these problems will just go away?"
The email asks recipients to help sell tickets: "A lot of time, money and effort have been placed in making this event a success and all we need are people to attend."
"Awake and Arise America" begins at 6:45 p.m. Friday and resumes Saturday at 12:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 for one day or $15 for both days. RSVP online, call 794-2600, or email greatmindsbydesign@gmail.com.
Other speakers include Sen. Monty Pearce, R-New Plymouth; his brother, Dale Pearce, area coordinator for the John Birch Society; Rep. Pete Nielsen, R-Mountain Home; and Idaho Freedom Foundation Executive Director Wayne Hoffman. Also scheduled to speak are Idaho Constitution Party Chairman Paul Venable; Ron Mann, a former special assistant to President Reagan; Tom Munds, a Constitution Party candidate; Roger Young, a preparedness expert; and motivational speaker and coach Dave Daubenmire.
The Tea Party Boise email follows, unedited:
Dear Fellow Patriots and Friends,
It has been brought to our attention that the turnout for the Awake and Arise America event has been much less than expected.
As one scheduled speaker says “there may be frustrations about religious affiliations or the fact that the speakers may speak on controversial issues, but are we really not then just looking for excuses to not attend? As many of you know, what we once knew as mere conspiracy theories today have varying degrees of truth. Are we willing like so many other people today to turn our head thinking if we ignore the possibilities that these problems will just go away?
This nation is divided, it is fragmented, there is a lack of unity and we will never be victorious if we always look for a way out, to not have to support or not to be engaged.
I am asking you to please forward this email to everyone you know, to ask them to stand with you, to purchase tickets and attend this event. A lot of time, money and effort have been placed in making this event a success and all we need are people to attend.
If you find that you cannot due to your disbelief about a particular subject matter, there will be a question and answer period where you can challenge the speakers on what they know.”
Please find the information you need in the attached flyer.
Thank You,
Tea Party Boise

That makes as much sense as paying to attend a NeoNazi meeting just to have the opportunity to question the speaker's ill-founded beliefs.
Sounds like more ignorance from the TeaParty and the (at least one)mormon followers.
Will Rammell be there?
Can they have a train wreck without Rex?
What they need
Get some elephants, a fat lady with a beard, and some clowns in a tiny car. Maybe the Bronco Billy tent is around here somewhere.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ....best responce to this circus.
Thanks seevee !!! Almost forgot, just need to bring Debra Miller in as the em-cee. She could really spice it up with her vocabulary, heck, she might even have a beard by now?
Heh!
People actually listen to Tea Party Boise...... Why and how can these people ever be taken seriously again?
Tea Idiots
are hurting for their money maker...awww so sad.
Really?
Why is the Tea Party (who is trying to become a legitimate force in this country) promoting this type of lunacy? As someone who lost a good friend in 9/11, I want an apology for not only the Tea Party bringing these idiots to Idaho to speak, but then trying to lay the guilt on to have us get people to attend (like some sort of Amway presentation). This is offensive.
Might be very entertaining
I'm thinking of showing up wearing my "Obama 2012" tee-shirt just to see what kind of reception I'll get.
I'd love to be able to ask some questions, but as the old saw goes, "people who claim to have all the answers usually won't allow any questions."
Or...
You could show up wearing cammo and a hat made out of tin foil.
wardrobe?
I think his point was he wanted to stand out, not blend in
What?
and blend in with the majority of this crowd?
Define "Crowd"

Too literal? I'm sorry you feel I have a Literal Agenda!
T-shirt
I should go wearing my t-shirt that reads:
Homeland Security
Fighting Terrorism Since 1492
and shows pictures of American Indian chiefs.
Spot on!
Hit the nail on the head.
"...varying degrees of truth"
"...varying degrees of truth" - Don't you just love the ring to it? Yeah, I think I'll pass on this charade.
Odd! I was feeling great a
Odd! I was feeling great a few minutes ago. But then I read this post and all off a sudden I feel sorta sick to my stomach. Well, it must of been the strawberries and toast. Nah! It was the article.
Yeah, they are just common folks
The tea party is always trying to sell the idea they represent the average American.
What they consist of is Birchers, radicals, and Mormon extremists.
And
Catholic extremists, and Protestant extremists, and Baptist extremists, etc...
So you are calling Zekie exclusionary?
----------
You've come a long way, baby!
True Colors Showing
They mention in their press release that "The nation is divided, there is a lack of unity etc" and yet they are bringing in a speaker thats going to slam LDS who are about 30% of the electorate in the Treasure Valley and traditionally conservative. That sound you will hear Friday night and Saturday is Tea Party Boise imploding.
BTW I would like to see Michele Bachmann's response to whether she thinks Mormons are really Christians.
I could be wrong
If I am reading this right, I think he is an LDS historian who used the Book of Mormon to connect dots and find conspiracies within the government. Probably more Free Masonic, Builderberger, Bohemian Club, anti-Zionist silliness.
My Bad
No you are right I misread it and tried to delete my comment to no avail.
I would like to see she isn't 3D CGI.
C-c-c-catch The Vote!

Not at all. I don't need an excuse.
Thanks for providing the full list of speakers and their affiliations. I'm sure that's going to come in handy in the future.
Ironic when Wayne Hoffman ends up looking like the most rational and moderate of the bunch.
Censor set to high
I tried to spell Michele with 2 LLs and it said I had to remove the word "he#&" or I could not submit.
DO NOT SUBMIT TO...ahem
Yo, I forgot. Free country. We also support bondage for education now and then.
Party out and carry on!

The censor missed all of this thread, but it might also be in favor of legalization today.
BTW, same thing for the President's wife. EQUALITY, I guess.

For Shame
Northwest Nazarene University should be ashamed they are hosting an event like this
They're just trying to make a tax free buck...

All the wackos in one place? Great. One sensible idea could wipe them all out.
interesting
so you think a mass murdering terrorist event is sensible? Interesting mind set.
When de he collect the other minds in the SET?

And they said the Tea Party was only concerned about
the rising debt and deficit. What does 9/11 and Mormon conspiracies have to do with being Taxed Enough Already?
What a bunch of buffoons.

Good Lord!
People still buy into this crap? Perhaps someone will torch the Brandt Center and do us all a favor. Tea Partiers are the new Brownshirts.
Reuniting the country? Really?
Interesting... one of the most divisive political movements in recent history wants to bring the country back together by examining the teachings of one religious sect and a wholly-discredited conspiracy hypothesis about 9-11.
Irony aside, I can't quite figure out how that's supposed to work.... are they trying to get everyone into the "paranoid extremist" wing of politics?
I pass. Someone shuffle and deal again.
Excuses not attend
Nobody really needs an excuse not to attend. If the organizers have presented a program that doesn't appeal to folks, they shouldn't try to guilt people into attending. Choose topics that people actually take seriously and they may choose to spend their hard earned money to go. Who chose this slate of speakers? Is this another Rod Beck project?
For me, it is just one more example of the Tea Party being out of touch and lacking priorities. 9/11 conspiracy theories and Mormon infiltration? Are you kidding? Are these really priority issues for the Tea Party?
Rod Beck
Some twenty years ago, I gave Rod Beck $400 to hold a house I wanted to rent from him. He changed his mind deciding to try and sell it instead. He kept my $400 for his "time and effort." I was only twenty and I'm sure he knew that I, being a dumb kid living in sin with my girlfriend, wouldn't know how to take him to court (correctly so). I went back to the house and broke some windows. I think the statute of limitations has expired. I still enjoy watching him fail.
Good Try
Should of gone for his legs...that's what we goombas do.
Sure 'nuff

Does anyone else find it amusing that Tea Party Boise, Inc.
is located in Eagle, ID? Not a major issue but I thought it was kind of funny.
Address
I think they have a mail drop in Eagle. The real colony is on Mars of course.
That explains the arrogant anger.
