Boise State adds linebacker commitment from Texas

By Brian Murphy

Boise State's football program secured another commitment from Texas on Saturday when Klein (Spring, Texas) High linebacker Ben Weaver committed to the Broncos.

Weaver is the 10th commitment for the Class of 2012 — and the sixth from the Lone Star State. Four of the Texas players, including Weaver, are from the greater Houston area.

Weaver told the Statesman that he chose Boise State over Texas Tech and California. He and his father visited all three schools this summer on unofficial visits. Weaver said he had 15 scholarship offers.

"Those were my top three schools. After my trip, I knew I was going to commit. It was clear to me that Boise was the one," he said Sunday.

"The coaches and the players played a huge part in it. It seemed like family already. The players seem to love it and they all say good things. Even though it's far away from my house in Houston, it didn't seem like it would make a difference."

Weaver said the Broncos coaching staff considers him a middle linebacker, a spot without much depth.

"I could go in there and possibly play pretty early," he said.

Weaver said coach Jeff Choate handled most of his recruiting. Weaver's commitment was first reported by

Commitments are non-binding until players sign a letter of intent. National Signing Day is in February.

See Monday's editions of the Idaho Statesman for more on Weaver's commitment.

Here's his film

the Boise State coaches must have a pretty good relationship with high school coaches in the Houston area. That, along with the great family camaraderie on the team--and oh yeah, the big dose of football excellence that awaits them.

Cal always loses its mind when they lose a recruit to the Broncos. They ask the recruit over and over again why when they are told its the Broncos they have chosen. As if Cal hasnt underachieved enough with all that great talent and QB play they get year after year. Nothing against the passionate fans and alum Cal has. Its the coaching staff in Berkeley thats not delivering.

as if anybody

would like to live in berkeley. homeless people & trash everywhere.

Oh yeah

Well, from watching the film, it's obvious he knows how to finish a play. Man, he just hammered some of those guys.

it's all dim sum

You'd be bananas to feast in my mangroves.

Funny story

It would seem the Bronco's aren't far from Georgia's head coach's mind........
