Rocky Mountain High's Burroughs to appear in Sports Illustrated

Rocky Mountain High track star — and Boise State football signee — Dallas Burroughs is in the June 27th edition of Sports Illustrated. Burroughs is featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of the magazine.

Here's what Sports Illustrated says about Burroughs:

Dallas, a senior at Rocky Mountain High, set state records in the 100 meters (10.34) and 200 meters (21.06) at the 5A state meet, leading the Grizzlies to their first track title. In football he was named all-state with a team-leading 75 catches for 1,358 yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as 304 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He will play football next year at Boise State.

That kind of speed

puts him up there in pretty elite company. Here's hoping that he sees action as a true freshman at the slot position. This really could be our time, with Geraldo and Shoe on the outside and Dallas on the inside--plus all the other accomplished young receivers. I'm finalizing my Georgia plans this week!

charlie

Are you opposed to a Red Shirt year for Dallas (saving an additional year of eligibility) and if so why?

Would love to learn your premise for having him see action as a true freshman.

Thanx.

VNDL

I dont think he plays this year.

Even if the kid is as advertised theres so many skilled WR's (and at his position, slot). And all are getting PT this year. Potter, older brother Mitch, Hiwat (er Boldewjn), Burks, T. Jackson Ware, Miller, Shoemaker and Kirby Moore. Thats 9 WRs not counting hybrid Tight Ends like Linehan. Unless hes super special, or we have some injuries, I doubt the staff burns his redshirt. The Bronco offense is complex and takes time to learn. Tough to see him getting time on the field this year at all.

Slot?

He's kinda small like Titus Young, play him outside stretch the field leaving the slot for a bigger and probably slower player who will be able to take some hits in the middle of the field. This could shape up to be a pretty exciting year.

Should I Know?

Where is Rocky Mountain High ?

Don't know if you should know

Linder Road Meridian

Where is Rocky Mountain High ?

John Denver said it was in Colorado.

So WHAT was a Rocky Mountain High?

I was in a car Thursday and a big beach ball made us stop when it got in traffic on SW 4th Avenue. THERE IS NO RESIDENTIAL HOME AT 12TH ST, so did Jerry Garcia have a message?

Why

Put that kind of speed in the slot? That is burner, stretch the field kind of speed. Putting him on the inside probably exposes him to more contact. I'm sure he is a tough kid and the coaches will find the best spot for him.

2 in two years...

...April 26, 2010 "faces in the crowd" issue featured another local talent. Kasen Covington (Capital HS) was featured in SI Magazine for his dominance on the track and on the field. Congrats to Dallas. Speaks very highly of the talent right here in our own backyard.

Elite?

5A Idaho records broken eh? So that means he beat the ones held by some chicken coop cleaner from Ririe? Impressive.

it should read...

Idiot...not Elite. I'm sure your idea of a broken record is throwing your copy of manilow against the wall. Get a clue and stop hating...better yet, list all the records you ever broke in your pathetic lifetime...

Fairly elite, yeah...

First, Ririe is a 2A school.
Second, I saw this kid run at the State meet this spring. He's the real deal.
Third, what were your 100 & 200 PRs again?

the NFHS 100 meter and 200 meter records are 10.01 & 20.13

Burroughs 100 meter time of 10.34 is about 1 second slower than Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay. Bolt owns the the world record with a 100 meter time of 9.53 and Gay has a time of 9.69.
In the 200, Burroughs time of 20.06 is quite respectable as well considering the top 3 times in the world are Usain Bolt 19.19, Michael Johnson 19.32, and Tyson Gay 19.58. So, as you can see, Burroughs can flat out scoot!

the state is a factor of time ?

wow that's kind of ignorant statement
so you have to be from a particular state to run fast?
does him beating the CIF state time this year count or is California too small of state too

the thing I love is people are afraid of what BOISE can do to there team. and what and were the program is heading
they are not a one team wander, they are getting better each year and there PROGRAM is getting better. there recruiting is getting better and taking away from Oregon, Washington, CAL and UTAH.
I know, I know no there not right! :)

Here is a kid who will do well at any school he chooses. His parents should have encourged him to attend an out of state college. By staying close to home he will lose the opportunity to grow and mature away from friends and family. He will end up a tattoed big fish in a very small pond.

you are so sweet, caring and

who the $%#& cares what you wish he would do. This is not about you.

Ignorant Post

"By staying close to home he will lose the opportunity to grow and mature away from friends and family. He will end up a tattoed big fish in a very small pond."

Really Domer. I hope you don't represent the best and brightest that your out-of-state (although we all know you're a Vandal) school produces. How the "h"-"e"-double hockey sticks you arrived at that conclusion defies reason.

1. Exactly how does association with family and friends preclude an individual from an opportunity "to grow and mature".
2. I didn't see anything about this kid that would indicate he may, someday in the future, patronize a parlor of body art.

Come back when you have something intelligent to say. Quit wasting everyone's time.

Amen.

HeismanPundit.com lists him as the 9th fastest player in FBS

9. Dallas Burroughs, WR, Boise State – Burroughs is one of the fastest players ever to come out of the state of Idaho. He ran a 10.34 and 21.06 coming out of Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, Idaho. He might be the fastest player ever to play for Boise State. He’s an incoming freshman for the Broncos.

Career Bests: 100m — 10.34; 200m — 21.06

http://heismanpundit.com/2011/06/14/the-fastest-players-in-college-football-2011/

The kid is fast. Real fast.

The kid is fast. Real fast. Reggie Bush's fastest 100m in high school was a 10.42 and I doubt anyone would call Bush slow. Put it this way, if this kid has an open blue field in front of him, nobody will catch him.

Hey I want to be the first to say it....

1) Yea but who has he played? Until he plays against at least 139 AQ schools a year and has the brain power of the country of China he is still small time. All hail the mighty Duck's of Oregon. The only true school of any note, any time, any where. Being fast has nothing to do with football. Since BSU is 8 and 1345 vs AQ schools since creation he may want to go some where else. Maybe Norte Dame could use him. We all know that they are a reciever away from a NC.

2) Okay now for real, it's great to see all the younger players the broncos are picking up. This sounds like a really exciting kid to watch. I hope that he get's a little playing time. Sounds like one more great target for Moore to throw too.

Sounds like some one is jealous

Small time? Titus Young and Austin Pettis NFL second round picks

DUCKS 8 BOISE 19

Yo bcluck

I found a poll that ranks your Ducks 3rd.....tied with Washington State.....

Aqfunk, aka the football vigilante,

Sorry for the delay, I've been away from the blog for a couple of days. I'm not opposed to a redshirt year, or anything the coaching staff decides. They're the experts, I'm merely a fan and that's why I merely said "here's hoping." Also, I agree, that the kid may need some time to bulk up, but with his speed he should be able to avoid a lot of contact--and only needs a limited amount of touches. More depth and more speed on the team, and who knows how far they will go.

charlie

Good thoughts. Made me think about the merits pro and con with a red shirt year. I can see facotrs for both. Yep, its the coaches' call, and I have total trust and confidence in the coaches.

Thanx.

Sports Ill U Strated?

The magazine than finds hapless girls who can't figure how to put their top back on and takes photos of them as they cover and stand there embarra$$ed, not knowing what to do?

No scruples, man.
