Bruce Babbitt blasts decision to delist wolves in Idaho

Former Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt said Wednesday House Republicans are taking the “most radical course in our history” on the environment.

The former Democratic Arizona governor called on President Barack Obama to stand up to Republicans against new environmental budget riders like those that delisted wolves in Idaho and defunded Obama’s “wild lands” BLM wilderness inventory. He said the passage of the wolf rider and its signature by Obama now threatened the “historic achievement” of wolf restoration to Yellowstone and the Rockies.

“I agree with those who say the reintroduction of gray wolf has been an astounding success and that some control, hunting if you will, is a perfectly reasonable policy,” Babbitt told reporters at the National Press Club and by phone. “The problem is this Congress took the most radical position possible.”

Babbitt said he preferred Congress had simply adjusted the “take” restrictions pertaining to killing of wolves under the Endangered Species Act.

Instead, “they set a precedence that I think merits kind of concern that has been expressed,” Babbitt said.

He highlighted three ways in which the Obama Administration could lead on conservation, including the use of the Antiquities Act to establish new National Monuments, pressuring Congress to expand the National Wilderness Preservation System and enhancing protections for our oceans resources.

“Mr. President, America’s great outdoors is under attack as never before.,” Babbitt said. “We need you to stand up to this assault as only the President can.”

"The former Democratic Arizona Republican"

I see they changed it to Governor now....

Add bruce to the list of people I already thought were dead.

No wonder you have troubles! You must be using Twitter!

If you could handle the truth, you wouldn't be spoiling our social hour right now.

Another dim-witted bureaucrat...

whining about things that have already been done. Grandstanding for his brainless supporters. Threatening "historic achievements, but some hunting is perfectly reasonable? Kind of liking talking out both sides of your mouth. Again, dim-witted.

sick to death of these wolf stories.

Another ploy for attention from a nobody who never did deserved the job as interior secretary. So far all comments are right on the money.

Not to mention we are all sick to death of these wolf stories. It is what it is right now.

Just a guess

You've never been out of the county you were born in have you?

Idiot

Sounds like you never left California.

As least we don't use astral projection and channeling.

Kevin Richert is scared of me for some stupid reason and I really don't care.

So what. Babbitt, Bobbitt, all the same thing.

Bruce...

Why don't you tell Obama to stand up for America and close the border down there
in Arizona? That is where the real wolf problem is...

If you you stop sending Americans into Mexico...

That tourista pheromone scent won't lure them in?

You comment on here all the time. Would you do me a favor and post something intelligent just once...?

Yes. You've waited 3 hours and 58 minutes for me to respond.

Thank you for your question.

I recommend reading the other threads for full comprehension too

Sitting here sniping at things I say because you can't get beyond snippets is a serious flaw.

PS You sound like VNDL.

If I'm on top of it perhaps I should let you get out from under. That can only hurt.

Babbit another liberal nobody

Leave to Rocky Barker to blog about another liberal nobody on the topic of the non indigenous Canadian wolf introduction to Idaho. The state of Idaho can handle managing wolves just fine without interference from any federal agency. And really who gives a hoot what Babbit thinks about wolves in Idaho? And kudos for Governor Butch Otter for declaring the gray wolf a "disaster emergency" within the boundaries of the great state of Idaho!

Babbitt another liberal leftest nobody

Babbit the the babbling libtard.

What type of ammo did Babbitt try?
