Skyview's Dranginis named Gatorade Idaho Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Skyview High senior Kyle Dranginis was recognized as the 2010-11 Gatorade Idaho Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season Wednesday.

The 6-foot-5 senior led the Hawks to a runner-up finish in the 4A state tournament earlier this month. The point guard averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals per game for the 22-5 Hawks.

In late November, Dranginis set a school record with a 54-point outing against Vallivue High.

Dranginis signed a national letter of intent to play for NCAA-qualifying Gonzaga this fall.

"Kyle Dranginis is one of the finest players I've seen in Idaho," said Bishop Kelly coach Larry Crump in a press release. "He makes all the players around him better. Much of their team's success was due to his ability to get his teammates involved."
