Boise-based film director Michael Hoffman follow up project to his Academy Award nominated "The Last Station" is "Gambit," starring Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz. Hoffman starts filming in London and New Mexico in May and already has a distribution deal with CBS Films, a division of the TV network.
CBS Films started in 2007, handling development, financing, production and marketing of theatrical motion pictures. CBS Films currently plans to release four to six movies a year and will oversee their global distribution with partners while self-distributing the titles theatrically in the United States.
So far the studio has released “Extraordinary Measures,” “The Back-Up Plan,” "Faster," “The Mechanic" and “Beastly."
Hoffman's "Gambit" is by the Coen Brothers. The 1966 original starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine.
