The IHSAA board met December 7 in Boise and tackled several topics. A link to download the synopsis from the IHSAA website is located at the bottom of this post, but here are some highlights from the meeting:
• 5A Caldwell High's request to participate in the 4A classification beginning with the 2011-12
school year was not approved.
• Gate receipts for the state soccer tournaments held in Idaho Falls, Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene and
Twin Falls this year were down down approximately $11,000 from last year, when they were staged in the Treasure Valley.
• Gate receipts for the state volleyball tournaments were up about $9,000, despite the switch from the three-day, double-elimination format to a two-day, single-elimination format. The report indicated "managers and tournament workers were appreciative of the format change, several coaches were not."
• Representation and bracketing for football, soccer and volleyball state tournaments in 2011 was discussed. The synopsis provides a complete look at the bracketing so far.
