FOOTBALL

Jesse Rohr and Devin Felton, Bishop Kelly: Shelley was able to slow down Bishop Kelly's running game in the 4A state semifinals, but the Russets had no answer for quarterback Jesse Rohr and wide receiver Devin Felton. Rohr completed 13-of-20 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns, including three to Felton. Felton finished with five receptions for 75 yards. After a scoreless first quarter, Felton scored in the second, third and fourth. Bishop Kelly (11-0) will play Blackfoot (9-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bronco Stadium for the 4A state championship.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Taylor Nate, Rocky Mountain: Back-to-back double-doubles isn't a bad way to start the season. Nate finished Rocky's season-opener with 22 points and 12 assists in a 65-30 win against Nampa on Friday, then added 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-20 win against Columbia on Saturday.

Common

I realize that High School is the end-all-be-all for all of you who didn't go to college, and for those of you who won't go on to higher education, but this is a newspaper. Can we please get less high school football news and more actual reporting?

This is in the varsity extra

This is in the varsity extra section which focuses on high school sports. Please don't complain about reading something that you chose to read. While it is of interest to many, it also provides a forum for our local athletes to be recognized.

Get over yourself

Why read the "Varsity Extra" section if you don't want to know about high school sports? What about the parents, grandparents, family, community, faculty, etc.? Being involved in your community school requires knowing what's going on in that school. My son is a student-athlete, and yes, he's going to college. One you wouldn't be able to get into. By the way, how do you like Stevens-Henager?

Undersecretary: You do

Undersecretary: You do realize your comment appeared under the article about two Bishop Kelly players right? 98% of the BK kids are enrolled in college the year after they graduate. Besides, exactly why do you read the sports section anyway? The eductional achievments of pro athletes?

one more thing

If you'd have seen the game that Rohr and Felton had, you'd understand why they are mentioned.
They both had an amazing game. Great atheletes, great students and, more importantly, great kids.
