After a scoreless first quarter, the Grizzlies and Mustangs went on a scoring binge in the second quarter with a combined 49 points. Eagle and Rocky each scored twice in the final 3 minutes of the first half.

The quarterbacks are leading the way. Rocky Mountain quarterback Levi Altringer has completed 18-of-19 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns, while Eagle quarterback Tanner Mangum has completed 13-of-17 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns.

Eagle has done very little on the ground. Dillon Lukehart, who finished led the 5A SIC in rushing has two carries for six yards and a touchdown. Rocky Mountain's Jordan Deck, meanwhile, has 17 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown.

On the receiving end, Rocky Mountain's Dallas Burroughs has a game-high eight receptions for 129 yards and two TDs, while Jace Johnson leads Eagle with four receptions for 83 yards. Chase Place has six catches for 96 yards.

Burroughs also threw a 6-yard scoring pass to Altringer.

8:07 p.m. — Rocky Mountain 28, Eagle 21: Tanner Mangum threw his second touchdown pass, this time a 23-yarder to running back Dillon Lukehart with 30.7 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Mangum moved the Mustangs down the field with four completions for 70 yards in a matter of 36 seconds to answer Rocky's 51-yard touchdown pass moments earlier. Mangum, in his return to the field after missing seven full games, is 13-of-17 for 230 yards. He's still short of Rocky quarterback Levi Altringer's 273 yards.

8 p.m. — Rocky Mountain 28, Eagle 14: We have a shootout on our hands. Levi Altringer is having the game of his life and doubled Rocky's lead with a 51-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Dallas Burroughs. We haven't even reached halftime, and Altringer is 18-of-19 for 273 yards with two touchdown passes. He also has a touchdown catch from Burroughs. The two have connected for three of Rocky's four scores. 1:06 remaining in the second quarter.

7:56 p.m. — Rocky Mountain 21, Eagle 14: The Mustangs bounced right back with a 72-yard scoring drive in 1 minutes, 13 seconds. Quarterback Tanner Mangum completed 4-of-6 passes for 68 yards during the drive and running back Dillon Lukehart capped it with a 4-yard scoring drive. It was Lukehart's second carry tonight. 1:40 remaining in the second quarter.

7:50 p.m. — Rocky Mountain 21, Eagle 7: The Grizzlies doubled their lead with a 1-yard touchdown run by tailback Jordan Deck to cap a 10-play, 62-yard drive. Deck has 15 carries for 36 yards. 2:53 remaining in the second quarter.

The play looked like it came straight out of Boise State's playbook. Burroughs got the ball on an end around and found Altringer wide open in the end zone. 7:42 remaining in the second quarter.

7:30 p.m. — SCORE UPDATE: Capital 21, Vallivue 0 (late third quarter); Highland 14, Centennial 6 (second quarter)

7:25 p.m. — Rocky Mountain 7, Eagle 0: Quarterback Levi Altringer is off to a phenomenal start, completing 10-of-10 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown. After being stopped on Eagle's 2 on its first drive, it looked like Rocky was going to experience more disappointment on its second trip to the red zone, but Altringer connected with wide receiver Dallas Burroughs on third-and-goal from the 19. Burroughs has four receptions for 55 yards and Chase Place has four catches for 60 yards. 11:53 remaining in the second quarter.

7:25 p.m. — End of first quarter: Rocky Mountain 0, Eagle 0

7:13 p.m. — Tanner Mangum did start at quarterback and went 2-for-4 on his first series for 23 yards, but Eagle was forced to punt.

7:11 p.m. — Rocky Mountain started with the ball at the 20 off the opening kickoff and marched 78 yards before running into an Eagle wall on fourth-and-goal.

6:50 p.m. — The defending champs have a big test on their hands if they hope to get back to the state semifinals. Eagle, which beat Capital in last year's state championship game, lost to Rocky Mountain 48-21 earlier this year, but quarterback Tanner Mangum should be back from an broken collar bone that kept him out of nearly eight games. He broke the bone against Rocky Mountain in Week 2.

Rocky Mountain, meanwhile, is still smarting after losing in last year's state quarterfinals against Eagle. The Grizzlies have been impressive in recent games and have balanced offense triggered by running back Jordan Deck, quarterback Levi Altringer and wide receiver Dallas Burroughs.

If Mangum is playing, Eagle is just as dangerous, because he has a reliable buddy in the backfield. Running back Dillon Lukehart is among the best at his position in the state and will likely get a lot of carries tonight.
