2:51 p.m. — Scheduling change: I've had to move my weekly live chat to Friday at 1 p.m. to avoid conflict with Chris Petersen's press conference on Thursday. Sign up for a reminder e-mail.
11:28 a.m. Boise State football coach Chris Petersen hasn’t thought much about conference realignment, the topic that has dominated so much of college football conversation since the spring.
But Petersen said he was happy to see that WAC rivals Fresno State and Nevada will be joining the Broncos in the Mountain West. Boise State makes the move in 2011. Fresno State and Nevada could join in 2011 or 2012.
“When they were talking about expanding the other conference and you’re talking about going to 12 teams before, you’re going, ‘What about those guys,’ ” Petersen said. “I’m interested to see how it really turns out.”
Petersen and Fresno State coach Pat Hill have a lot of mutual respect. Hill often talks up the Broncos’ program. Despite his success at Fresno State, Hill always seems to be under fire from Bulldogs' fans.
“I’ve gotten to know Pat over the years and just really appreciate him. I think he’s done such a great job down there,” Petersen said. “Sometimes I think your own people don’t appreciate you as much as you should. I shake my head sometimes.”
Nevada has been Boise State’s toughest conference game in recent years. The teams have played three consecutive close games, including a four-overtime classic in 2007. Many Boise State fans make the trip to Reno for game, another positive in keeping the rivalry going.
“Just with the location, our fans have been great there,” Petersen said.
More expansion talk
• Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson said the league has had
”friendly conversations” with BYU, according to the Colorado Springs (Colo.) Gazette.
“We’re trying to see what can be resolved,” Thompson told the paper.
• Utah State and the Mountain West are still talking, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
• Deseret News reporter Jared Eborn gives four possible scenarios for how this BYU-Mountain West standoff ends.
Boise State-Idaho rivalry
• It sure sounds like Boise State and Idaho will continue to play football after the Broncos change conferences.
Boise State president Bob Kustra told KTVB:
“I think the athletic directors will be able to work this out, if in fact, it’s workable based on the schedules of Idaho and Boise State,” Kustra said.
Idaho athletic director Rob Spear said Boise State counterpart Gene Bleymaier has contacted him about continuing the series.
Trust me: It's workable. The question is whether Boise State would demand that all the games be played in Bronco Stadium, with the Vandals being designated as the home team every other year. That would allow Idaho to sell the game as part of its season-ticket package.
Would the Vandals accept such a deal?

kustra is a big dumb idiot face
because...
he is looking out for BSU and the program? Yep, Idiot!

is a big dumb vandal face. Haha, my insult is worse.
You're a big green frog. How can we take it seriously?

I like it and I think it is generous
of BSU to help out with designating them the home team every other year. Like WSU did for the vandies when their tin can was deemed uninhabitable. Charity begins at home people. And the vandies are on the freeway offramp with a "Vet that needs help" sign. Give em a cot and some food. No need for BSU to ever go INTO the tent city of UI but seting a place for them at the table and giving them a nice hot shower is a good thing. It still ends with UI in D2 but it is always fun to watch the hobo get drunk with the money you give them on the freeway.
Nauthty Naughty Tater2 - You should be spanked
From a business standpoint - it makes good sense for Idaho to play BSU in Boise every year, with every other year being a 'home' game for Idaho. More revenue will be generted for the Vandals in the long run.
It is so sad that college football has become Big Business. But, that is reality. Just have to adjust the mental perspective is all.
PS - I am actually quite dissapointed in you Tater2. I very much resent the fact that you articulate in writing with anomolies, that Vets are somehow hobos, drunkards, and charity cases, worthy of your 'charity'. I bet you never served a day in uniform or in service to your country. You should be ashamed of yourself. You should be grateful for the service of American Vets. They have ensured and are continuing to ensure the freedoms you enjoy. Make fun of the Vandies if you want, but, NEVER make fun of American Veterans.
VNDL
perhaps because you live in po dunk, you don't understand the funny part of the "vet" comment. It is well known that these "vets" are not vets just ask them what war they served in or anything about the military in general. Just like the person holding the cardboard sign really is not a mother of three starving children, or is out of gas and just needs gas money, or "needs work" IT IS FAKE!!!! geese VNDL I thought you of all people would know about this, it is now I that is disappointed in you!
Just like Vandies are not real graduates, these Vets are not vets..... unless toddlers served in nam..... that is where the 30 year olds on the corner say they were for their service.... heck.... most of the time they dont even make the signs themselves but other "charity organizations" do It has been a hot topic the past couple weeks in Boise.... cmon man, pick up what I am laying down....
I love the military and the VETS!!! I am a red stater, and I don't sit in coffee shops with all the other posters on the statesman site so I love the vets!

Tater2 is wise
Tater2: About once a year, a few of us vets get together to play some sports and hang out together - drink a little beer and just enjoy the day. Possibly, you would like to join us some time. We need a catcher for our mortar team.
Potato2, ya nailed it.
Candle fans may come out swinging on this, but beggers can't be choosers. Candle fans just think about this: If your university would have addressed the fan/student behavior YEARS ago, you probably wouldn't be in this position now. How does it feel to know you have done this to yourselves? Don't fret someone will spin it so it's not your fault, right murphy?
Vandals are Officially Sorry....
I'll keep my eye open for ya at the game up in Moscow Blue...offer you a beer in name of goodwill and Vandal apologies. Will you be there? Just make sure you park several miles away in Pullman so your car doesn't get keyed, or your wheels get stolen, or your airfoil get shredded to pieces...
Should I be looking for that fellow who can't smile, lookin' all real serious and tough like and chomping on gum? I'm assuming you'll be sporting some bright orange/pink/purple polo shirt accented with the touch of a popped collar, maybe even a sun visor with bleached and gelled up hair? Maybe even some unoriginal tribal band tatoo around the arm to top it off?
Is this right? How far off am I? I need to know so I can find you, apologize, and repair the damage we've done with our nasty behavior....
Heck man
Ill just take a beer. Do douchebags still pop the collar and get tribal band tats?
Had my experiences in moscow.
For some reason when I notified the university years ago about the key marks on my car they were more interested in how I could prove they were not there before I arrived at the game. Fair enough. I asked other Bronco fans if they tried to contact the school, and I got one answer repeatedly-'It's a waiste of time, they will not cover damages' You will not find me at that game galena, I am also not your fantasy boyfriend you described for everyone. Your way off on my appearance, but I would like to leave you with this one piece of advice: Come out, come out wherever you are. Closets are for clothes.
Bluemonster.
Why would you or any other victim complain to the U/I and not the police? Insurance requires a police report to secure a vandalism claim. The truth is vehicles get randomly vandalised everywhere. Shopping malls, concerts, games, even in front of homes. Your claim is stupid and VNDL has made you look like a fool. You need to man up on this and move on or he will continue to eat you for lunch.
It's not just bluemonster
there's been a few others here who have added to his claims of widespread vehicle vandalism in Moscow. Kinda lame in my opinion, but not nealy as lame as Kustra trying to weasle out of what he said about the Vandals. Evidently he's trying to claim that what he said about em was taken out of context. How he expects anyone to believe that is beyond me.
Bluemonster continues to lie
Bluemonster: In that past you have charged that vehicles owned by Broncos have been vandalized in the parking lot by the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, in years past. I challenged you to prove your charge with facts.
Do date, you have failed to do so.
You seem to be a good one for 'drive by allegations' without substance.
The challenge still remains for you to 'put up or shut up' and provide facts in support of your allegations.
that isnt a lie
its just discombobul....uncoroporativ.....it cant be proved....
VNDL
Nobody, including myself has to prove anything to you. So people who have had vehicles damaged now need to bring the evidence to you? Wow, you really are full of yourself. Take a look at the number of people who have complained about this, they are all full of it, and need to 'put up, or shut up'- unreal. Your right, all the reports have been fabricated, and only you know the truth. Congratulations on your version of reality. Unbelievable.
Bluemonster
Bluemonster: You posted a few weeks ago that Vandal students and alumni are not standing up and taking responsibility for the past damage to Bronco vehicles by Vandals, when the Broncos played in Moscow. You said that Vandals were not looking in the mirror. Remember you posting that?
Well, I looked in the mirror and I challenged you. I posted back then, that if you have facts to suport your allegations, that I would be the first to contact President Nellis's office and arrange for a meeting between he and I, so I could go on record as saying that I do not condone such actions, and requesting that he formulate and implement a university wide policy of sanctions against future acts of vandalism on UoI propery, against Bronco vehicles. Remember that?
I even said that I would take you along with me to the meeting so you could see a Vandal standing up and taking responsibility to work toward correcting any future injustices against Broncos by Vandals. Remember that?
If you have been a victim of vandalism of any/all vehicles you own, by anyone connected with the University of Idaho (student, faculty, staff, alumni), while your vehicle was parked on University of Idaho property and/or within the city limits of Moscow; please provide me some facts and I will be more than happy to do what I can do to investigate the incident and work toward the goal of getting you some recompense and making you whole, agaqin.
But, I can do nothing, if you don't provide me with some facts.
Thanx
VNDL
How funny.
You ask Murphy to validate your post? Let me have the honors. You state fan behaviour has put BSU in a position to dictate terms of future Vandal Donk games. That is the same as stating fan behaviour led to BSU securing a MWC invite. Leaving the WAC is the only thing that has put BSU in this power postion with regard to future games with us.
You must have been a kid that all your grade school teachers kept passing forward as they felt repeating a grade would not have helped. It is the same as drinking a glass of stupid toxin, once ingested, it will never leave your body.
If the game is played it
If the game is played it should only be played in Boise. If the vandals don't like it then they can leave it.
Fine with me.
I just hope it continues in one way or another. Heck Boise's a lot easier of a trip for me than Moscow. As long as the game keeps going and BSU allows tailgating outside...no complaints here.
Will the WAC survive?
The future of the WAC is looking dimmer by the day. First, BSU jumped to the MWC in June. Then Nevada and Fresno State announced their intentions to move to the MWC this month. Now the two articles referenced above report that Utah State (MWC), La Tech (C-USA) and Hawaii (Big West, ecept for football, which would go independent) are rumored to be looking to leave.
This leaves only three members - SJSU, Idaho and NM State - out of the "we're going elsewhere sometime" conversation. In light of this, is the WAC on life support after this year?
Candle?
The candle thing is really lame...it's the equivalent of calling BSU the Ronco's (as in the food dehydrator). Dumb! And as far as the fan/student behavior problem...have you been to a football game at a traditional college campus before? Not to make excuses or spin this thing, but people 18-24 tend to act immature in group settings, especially when alcohol is involved. Not to justify it, but that sort of fan behavior at a traditional college campus is pretty common...and BSU fans aren't exactly angels so get over yourself!
You're Right About the Candle Thing.......
Posters normally spell it Kandle...I can't believe he dInked that up....
Your wit astonishes me!
...
And you can trade it for what's behinf door number THREE!

"Say a prayer for the pretender..."-Jackson Browne
Your not paying attention.
It's not just fan behavior that got Boise State fans to this point. IF you knew the history of what happens up in moscow when the Broncos play there (damages to vehicles etc.) maybe you wouldn't have bothered to post your comments. As far as names go how about Akey calling the Broncos 'donkeys'? -Oh, that's different. One of the names idaho has earned is candles, probably from how they keep getting blown out by Boise State. If you don't like it, then have your 'team' do something about it. For the record I have been to big time games before, Texas-OU at the Cotton Bowl for starters. Fans can say whatever, I don't care, that's part of the fun. Lastly I will get over myself when candal fans, and their university start taking responsibility, and we all know that ain't gonna happen.
Only Vandals have disrespectful fans?
I guess you have never been to a BYU-Utah game. That nastiness is well docu-mented and much more hatefull than Bronco-Vandal. The fact is BSU is not a traditional university and is shocked to see people of college age doing the things college kids do.
Really statesman docu*ented is a banned word?
I somewhat agree
Ive attended BYU/Utah, Michigan/Ohio St., Cal/Stanford, Texas/Okla ,Oregon/Oregon St. rivalry games. I cant speak for the deep South but the most brutal was BYU/Utah. Wow. The things I heard and saw were quite insane. The funniest most eloquent vile phrases made me laugh and cringe all at the same time.
I think what Blue/Zeit is trying to say is valid. Idaho, a more traditional school, students who, because they are younger, wreak havoc on a rival. Thats to be expected. Because Boise St. is a commuter school, with working older parents attending clas-s-es, the havoc might be less. It seems if you are trying to figure out how to stay in school and put food on the table, you might have less time to think of ways to blaze the opposing fans. But Zeit, it happens. Nothing is more deplorable than keying a new car because your team just got whipped. Thats why the fans do it.
Gees Statesman I cant say c-l-a-s-s-e-s?
You are right
no matter how heated the BSU/Idaho rivalry becomes in the future, its intensity will always pale in comparison to most, if not all, big name rivalries. I have no doubt that fan behavior at the Michigan/Ohio State game every years is many times worse than anything Idaho will ever see. For that matter, during basketball season the antics (and language) of Duke's student section (aka the 'Cameron Crazies') easily tops anything the Broncos and Vandals can cook up.
As to your final question concerning a perfectly legitimate word: no, the out of control filtering software will not allow any work (including proper names) if it contains three (or more) letters which, if allowed to stand alone, would be banned from the site. Over the weekend it tripped me up because it objected to the last name of that 20th Century American poet who hardly ever used capitol letters (e. e. cvmmings).
You havent seen anything
The SEC rivalry games take the back seat to none. Have you ever been to Jacksonville for a game? The 200k plus make the Vandals look like Sunday school. You guys get so wrapped up in petty stuff you really don't know anything about.
and you know nothing
BarackNoKid, the stadium only holds a little over 80K, but over half a million fans make the trip.
Not sure where you pulled the 200K from, but considering all the dingleberries on it I would have to guess that you pulled it outta your a s s
The monkey that SAYS no evil didn't post of COURSE.

Blue...
You are wasting your time man. Some vandals like Galena and VNDL get the rivalry thing. They'll mess with you but its all good. They try to be unbiased. They have real pride. The good pride a team should have. But some Vandals get offended at the name calling. Yet its the same ones that also name call too. They are livid at Kustra, but think Spears is funny for not getting on a plane and Akey is cool for not dressing in a Bronco locker room for a Bowl game. They think its school spirit for Akey to call the Broncos "Donkeys" and for Spears to demand Home and Home with a Top 10 team even though no other Top Ten teams really do that that often. You cant convince them otherwise.
Sometimes I forget
who I am dealing with, and why they act the way they do. Shame on me for taking the bait, I should have learned from '41' a long time ago.
Oh Geeesh!
Are you serious? I was just saying that Candles is Lame...that was my only point. I wasn't saying that you can't take shots at the Vandals. I guess I just don't get it right JLandon!
I saw what you wrote below this
and I agree with you. Some names are lame and some are really funny. I guess "donks" bother some people so its worthy. But I think its lame. And I also think it was a cheap shot by your coach. If Coach Pete called you guys h-os or the vandorks, there might be an actual riot of biblical reckoning.
I got my officiall
"Donkey State" button at the fair. Looking forward to wearing it in Glendale come Jan.
Not sayin, just sayin
Bluemonster - Another opportunity to provide some facts
Bluemonster: You keep charging Vandals doing damage to Bronco vehicles and that the University of Idaho and/or students and/or alumni accept no responsibility for thse actions and/or stopping them. I posted the following, almost three weeks ago, and you still have not rsponded. I am posting it again, as possibly you have not had an oportunity to respond yet, and I want to be throrough in my efforts to provide you every opportunity to respond.

It's Time To Put Up Or Shut Up & A Hobson's Choice
Submitted by VNDL on Sat, 07/31/2010 - 3:19pm.
Bluemonster: I don't doubt there is a perception that exists, whereby a belief system has emerged which focuses squarely upon rumored and alledged damage being done to vehicles owned by Broncos by Vandals, when Broncos have traveled to Moscow to attend BSU/Idaho football games. You are not the first to have verbalized this rumor.
To the end of ascertaining and weighing the credibility of your charges and accusations, could you please provide the specifics of when this occurred, what type(s) of vehcle(s) was/were damaged, where this damage occured on property owned and/or controlled by the University of Idaho, how this damage ocurred, were any police notified, were any insurancd claims filed, what was the percentage of actual payout of insurance claims paid in relation to the actual depreciated value of the vehicle(s) per the current NADA 'blue book' valuations at the time of the occurrence(s), were there witnesses to the events, were any written or oral witness statements taken, were criminal charges filed against any individuals connected in any way with the University of Idaho, and do you have first hand knowledge, a priori, of the factual accuracy of your charges and allegations - and if so how can their veracity be best ascertained?
You have leveled some very serious and heavy duty charges and allegations against Vandals, on a public forum.
I do not condone damaging personal property of Broncos who travel to Moscow, in any form of being representative of 'the spirit' of Hate BSU Week. Verbal insults and smack talk are okay though - even t-shirts that say F U BSU or other Nasty Stuff, as well. And the spitting stuff - well that may be a case by case thingy that could go either way depending on various factors (volume, content, physical and chemical makeup of the spittle, wind speed, deflection, the earth's rotation and gravity pull, and a whole bunch more other stuff)
Please provide the requested information, preferably broken out on a year by year basis, for every year the Broncos played the Vandals in the Kibbie Dome, since the inception of the Bronco/Vandal rivalry beginning post 1971 First Game.
Failure to do so on your part, should, by using Reasonable Man Standards, be fairly and objectively construed by all readers of this board (be they Broncos/Vandals/all others), as you, probably not having, any credible basis or verifiable facts uppon which to base your charges and allegations.
Should your research and sharing prove factual and specific information regarding actual damage to any vehicle(s) owned by Broncos, caused by Vandals, on University of Idaho property, I will personally arrange for a meeting with the President of the University of Idaho (President Nellis) and express my outrage that damage has occurred to Bronco personal property by Vandals, on University of Idaho property. I can assure you that you will be an invitee to that meeting as well - so you can be a stand up person and stand shoulder to shoulder with a Vandal expressing mutual outrage at these occurrences - should they pan out as being valid and factual, that is.
Until you provide some actual verifiable facts - what you have posted can only be fairly and objectively considered as nothing more, than wild baseless charges and accusations, without foundation and/or merit.
The ball is in your court, Bluemonster.
Go Vandals.
Go Broncos.
PS - I shudder to think there may have been any insurance fraud involved regarding these occurrences, if monies have actually been paid out by insurance companies for any claims filed by anyone for damages arrising from any/all of your alleged charged occurrences, and your facts don't support your allegations. That would be a big 'No No'. Possibly, the good folks at the Idaho Insurance Commission should look into this if you can provide supporting facts to lay a credible foundation and give weight and color to your charges and allegations - to ensure no insurance fraud ocurred? The same could be said if you can't. A classic Hobson's Choice. Just a thought.
PPS - Until you provide some facts and specifics, I just can't take your allegations and charges seriously. But, I do believe the rumors about verbal insults and even a little spitting here and there. That stuff probably happened - I don't doubt that.
PPPS - Broncos should probably take umbrellas to this year's game in Moscow, I'm thinking.

How Can You File a Report? ...Sheez......
Most unrealistic VNDL. Everyone knows Moscow Cops are too busy issueing "breathalyzer" tests on Bronco cheerleaders.......
.
They can get a higher score, if they don't use their hands.
PS - It's easy to file a report. Who are you kidding?
C'mon Blue...
enough of the vehicle damage whimpering ok?. Did you guys make a police report? Did ya'll file insurance claims? Seriously, if there is such a big deal about vehicle damge in Moscow, would it not be newsworthy? I mean Channel 7 will send a reporter and a camera guy 5 hours away to talk a bout a tree that fell down in the middle of a forest, so if vehicle vandalism was as widespread as you claim it is, then more people would be aware of it because it would make the news, but guess what. bad things happen from time to time and because of that almost everywhere you park your vehicle, you do so at your own risk and, BSU isn't any different. Try calling the BSU/Boise Police station and ask how many vehicle break ins calls they receive on a monthy basis, or how many theft calls they go on, or how many bikes and lap tops get stolen. What it comes down to is you and many other Bronco fans are only seeing what you want to see in the rivalry. You guys only seem to want to see the worst part of it and dwell on it as opposed to opening your mind and seeing that vandalism/crime is something that happens all of the time. check out this website - http://www.adaweb.net/mapping/
As you can see, there's evidently a lot of vandal fans living in Boise, huh? Seriously though, have fun with the Idaho fans, enjoy the rivalry, and remember that it's all in good fun, you just have to allow yourself to partake in it.
Finally appear again huh kid?
After all that conference talk? You are the biggest idiot on these threads and I have absolutely zero respect for you. You are a whining cry baby and to call Blue a whiner after you wimper to the Statesman is a joke.
I have had my car vandalized twice in Moscow during the game. No one has to prove it. Was it vandals? Was it Vandals? Who knows, but it happened. Quit trying to compare a "game vs random months in Boise with the BPD"....thats not even the same thing.
Why did you disappear after the conference threads?
sorry, but I don't live my life online like you do
so yeah, from time to time you're going to see huge gaps in my online activity.
Wow Landon, are you serious? You have zero respect for me? Hmmm, I had no idea. Dude, it's not as if that sentiment hasn't come through in your posts over the course of the past year or anything, but hey, thanks for pointing out the obvious. Oh, by the way...I'm crushed.
Yanno what's funny? You! Yeah, I got my panties in a wad because one of you dim wit buddy's created an imposter username to take jabs at me because their other efforts just made that person look stupid and immature, and I'm not sure that their new imposter username is doing anything different for them, but hey, whatever, right?
Anyway, what's funny, is that you want to call me out for being a whiner, yet you've been whining about having you car vandalized in Moscow and you whine about it on a weekly basis. Seriously dude, get over it, go to therapy if you need to, but just get over it.
Anyway, nobody is really trying to get you to "prove" to them that your vehicle was vandalized, what is happening is that you're being called out to back up your claim that vehicle vandalism is a widespread issue that all bronco fans have to deal with whenever they go to Moscow, but the fact of the matter is that it isn't. Sometimes bad people do bad things and it happens everywhere. That crime map of Boise that I pointed out to you was meant to show you that. So tell me, how is a student of the U of I keying a car at a football game any different than a student at BSU stealing a lap top from another student? You only see what you want to see and ignore the bigger picture, but seriously, isn't this whole entire issue regarding the rivalry nothing but a bunch of you whiners crying about how mean the Vandals are to ya'll?
41
What a boorish post by you 41. You are such a lame poser. What does your inside sources tell us about the conference alignment now BYU might stay in the MWC? You are the biggest phony and its awesome to call your weak junk out.
Landon ..Landon..Landon ...
How many times do I need to lay it out for you? I do not have any inside sources within the BSU athletic department and I've never claimed to have any. What I claimed to have was what I called a "unique perspective" and you guys ran wild with that and dreamed up all sorts of crazy things. That's where the whole inside source thing came from. It came from you guys...not me!
By the way, did you ever contact the BSU/Boise PD and inquire about game day crime? Nope? didn't think so! But then again, doing so would open your eyes to the fact that bad things also happen to fans who park their cars in and around the BSU campus on game day, so why would you do anything that would crush your small minded perception that vehicle vandalsim only occurs to to Bronco fans on Saturday and in Moscow. Yeah, JL, like I'm the lame borish poster around here.
to answer you question...
the talk around here is that BYU is more than likely going to stay put in the MWC. Evidently BYU was going to announce their plans later this afternoon, so who knows, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The big question is if BYU does stay, will it force Utah State's hand into leaving the WAC and joining the Cougs in the MWC?
Could you clarify....
what "the talk around here" means? The student body, the faculty, the athletic department, the janitors, the vandal spies, like who?
Thanks
