Boise State’s football team has secured its seventh commitment for the Class of 2011 — 6-foot-3, 195-pound Canadian safety Taylor Loffler.

Loffler committed to the Broncos on Tuesday, he told the Idaho Statesman.

“I really liked the school, they have a really good team and I really liked the coaches,” Loffler said. “It was a pretty easy decision.”

Loffler also had an offer from Oregon State, he said.

Loffler, a right-hander, plays quarterback and safety at Kelowna Secondary in British Columbia.

The Broncos have enjoyed success with several Canadian players in recent years, including offensive linemen Andrew Woodruff (British Columbia) and Jon Gott (Alberta), linebacker Josh Bean (Alberta) and defensive end Mike G. Williams (Alberta). Current defensive linemen Michael Atkinson (Ontario) and Tyrone Crawford (Ontraio) also hail from north of the border.

"I have heard in the past they've had some pretty successful Canadians, but that didn’t influence my decision of where to go," Loffler said.

He is the Broncos' seventh commitment for the Class of 2011 confirmed by the Idaho Statesman. Commitments are non-binding. Players can sign letters of intent in February.

UPDATE 5:51 p.m. — I just got off the phone with Loffler's coach at Kelowna Secondary, Ray Anderson.

Anderson said Loffler is "easily the hardest-working kid on our football team. He's one of those guys that kind of leads by example. He sets a tone, whether it's in practice or any kind of drill. He's always the guy setting the pace."

Anderson said Loffler is a "special" player that could play just about any position.

Love the Size

of this kid. Hope he's quick and a punishing tackler.

Welcome!!

Daryn Colledge?

He's probably the best alsakan to ever play at BSU!

PACX loses Again

See ButtDuck..more and more...coming here...
Read the update about the athletes super attitude..Pete and crew always do a great job in this area of recruiting.

Wow, first a WR who turned down...

...offers from Utah State AND Army and now this. Going to the great white north to get this zero star safety.

Man, recruiting is being taken to the next level at JC's all over the country!!

Yeah And Oregon State....

you know, this years winner of the Quacks rival contest, offered him too....

yeah, we probably couldn't beat oregon

with the athletes we recruit. not a top notch program like oregon. they must have done incredibly well last year. hee hee, old bumduck never could read.

Looks like Utah, TCU, Fresno, BYU, all manage...

...to schedule great non conference schedules...NDame, Pitt, Cinn, Iowa St, Illinois, Baylor, Oreg St, Wash, Fla St, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, LSU, Virginia, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, Rutgers, Miss over the next 3 years.

All we see from Boise JC over the next 3 years is Va Tech, Oreg St and Miss.

Exposed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone else manages to schedule tough, meaningful OOC games, but Boise just whines that they cant get anyone to play them...RIGHT!!!!

Exposed like the wanna bees you are.

Well bcluck,

funny you should bring up non-con schedules......

The clucks have the following teams scheduled over the next 3 years:

2008/09
New Mexico - 5-19
Tennessee - 12-12
Kansas St. - 12-13
Nevada - 15-9
And these 2 biggies
Montana State
Portland State

Now I know the Portland State game is meaningful to the die-hard cluck fan, but please point out a real meaningful game here...........

thought not.........

Nice.....

No end to the ButtDuck beat down...

bumduck is such a loser

the only team on that list with even a chance at making the poll is tennessee. it would be so funny if nevada beat them.

You say there is a safety in Canada...

I say you can't hide there anymore.

I hate it when the Niaspan for my cholesterol control causes the hot flashes.

Okay, I finally get it...

Oregon is a special team, guys, and just because they can't beat us, and their fans have to vent their frustrations somewhere, we is it. So I guess we could show a little cosideration and cut them some slack for being the disillusioned fans of a team in constant disarray....cluck cluck WaAaC-WacwacwAaaaC-WakwAkwaaaC!
