Idaho campaign filings: Pasley-Stuart says there's 'no feud' over Boise Senate seat

State Rep. Anne Pasley-Stuart says she has always been interested in running for state Senate — so, with the North and East ends' Senate seat opening up, she jumped into the race quickly.

The Boise Democrat filed for Senate Monday, and says she is a little baffled by the confusion surrounding her move.

"(There's) no feud or anything like that going on here," Pasley-Stuart said this morning.

Pasley-Stuart is serving her fourth term in the House, and said she did plan to leave the House, perhaps to return to school or volunteer for another political campaign. Her plans changed when state Sen. Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise, decided to leave the Senate to run again for the Idaho House of Representatives. On her blog Monday, LeFavour said she missed working in the "more chaotic, wild and humorous" House. "I could go back there. Why not?"

On Monday, LeFavour said she was caught off guard by Pasley-Stuart's move. LeFavour believed Pasley-Stuart was planning to leave the Legislature — and LeFavour was encouraging state Rep. Brian Cronin, D-Boise, to run for Senate.

However, Pasley-Stuart said she has made no secret of her interest in the Senate. When the Senate seat came open in 2008, Pasley-Stuart said she deferred to LeFavour, despite outranking her in seniority.

"I don't know why (LeFavour is) surprised," Pasley-Stuart said.
