Boise Youth Chess Champion Uses Skills to Help Haiti

When 11-year-old Luke Vellotti saw the Haiti earthquake images on CNN, he decided to use his talents to help.

He got in touch with the folks at Smoky Mountain Pizza, and they came up with a plan. This Saturday, at 4:30 p.m., everyone is welcome to come to the restaurant, 415 E. Parkcenter Blvd., and participate in a mass chess game — Luke vs. everyone else. At the same time.

Participation fee is $20, all of which will be given to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Register online or call 713-2486.

Vellotti’s Chess Kids have also donated prizes for players.
