Vaughn Ward sets announcement tour, including an appearance with Kempthorne, Luna

GOP Congressional candidate Vaughn Ward begins a 14-stop “Official Ward for Congress Announcement Tour" in Emmett Tuesday morning. Later that day, at 3 p.m., he will be joined by former Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna for a press conference on the Statehouse steps.

Ward, of Eagle, is a Marine reservist making his first run for office. An Idaho native, Ward left the state after graduating from Boise State University to work on Capitol Hill in the 1990s as an aide to Kempthorne, who then was in the U.S. Senate. In the Marines, Ward served in Iraq and also worked for the CIA.

In 2007, Ward returned to Idaho and considered challenging Republican Rep. Bill Sali in the May 2008 GOP primary. Instead, Ward waited until Sali was defeated in November 2008 by Democrat Walt Minnick. Now, Ward faces state Rep. Raul Labrador of Eagle for their party’s nomination to oppose Minnick in November.

In a news release announcing his tour, Ward wrote, “The eyes' of our Nation are on this race and it is viewed as our best opportunity to send Nancy Pelosi a clear message: We will not stand for out of control spending, more government intrusion, and higher taxes. This district is ground zero and where taking back our country begins!”

Only one announcement needed.

It's speeches after that.

re-announcement

Are all of the candidates going to re-announce? I thought he announced a year ago.

Their pre-paid announcement cards expired.

Hey, if he can solve all

Hey, if he can solve all those problems, we need him here to work on Idaho's problems first. What a dreamer!
