Idaho to play Bowling Green in Humanitarian Bowl

6:25 p.m. Roady's Humanitarian Bowl director Kevin McDonald just told me Idaho will play Bowling Green in the game on Dec. 30 at Bronco Stadium.

The Vandals have not played in a bowl game since 1998 when they defeated Southern Miss in the H-Bowl.

6:16 p.m. Boise State will meet TCU in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 4 in Glendale, Ariz.

4:51 p.m. The WAC bowl lineup is set. It will be announced officially shortly after 6 p.m.

New Mexico Bowl: Fresno State vs. Wyoming

Hawaii Bowl: Nevada vs. SMU

Roady's Humanitarian Bowl: Idaho vs. TBA. The H-Bowl is still working on its second team.

Sounds like Boise State will play TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

4:37 p.m. The New York Times is reporting that it will be Boise State-TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

I hate it and am sure most Boise State fans do, too. I think it will be a ratings dud and could struggle to fill the stadium.

After talking to some people in the know, I'm inclined to believe it will be TCU-Boise State with the Fiesta opting to pair two undefeated, top-6 teams in its game.

Some reports out of Big Ten country put Iowa in the Fiesta to play Boise State. So there is hope that the Broncos won't have to play another non-BCS conference team.

Needless to say less than 90 minutes before the announcement there is no consensus.

11:52 a.m. Alabama and Texas are 1-2 in the USA Today coaches' poll, all but assuring the pair of a spot in the BCS title game. BCS bowl pairings will be announced at 6 p.m. on Fox.

Boise State remained at No. 6. Florida, which was No. 1 but lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, remained ahead of Boise State at No. 5.

Isnt this Coaches Poll....

made public today about which coach voted for whom?

Good point. You may be right on that. Problem is I think USA Today holds those ballots for its Monday paper. We'll get them tomorrow.

Next year

Oregon has to be favored to win the PAC 10. But if Locker comes back and with their OOC schedule, Washington could really be a force not only in the PAC 10 but Nationally.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'

Problem is

They are losing a lot of supporting talent. They are building some momentum though even if they lose Locker... I despise, feel contempt and a deep repugnance for Washington !

Being a DAWG.....I agree.

Yes, I agree. Yes, I could be blinded by the light that is shining brightly from Seattle after last nights 'schooling' of Cal (42-10). Locker is the real deal, but most know that already. Personally, I'm afraid that Rich is going to the NFL and probably the first QB taken. If the Seahawks keep losing, they just might take the guy with Hasselbeck ailing and getting older.

If Locker comes back to the UDUB, then next year will be the first great year since the 'good old days' of Don James. No, I don't count the days of New-weasel, he was not a head coach and screwed the UDUB in the end. Without Locker, the Dawgs will be looking for a QB and while Nick Montana (Joe's kid) is a great recruit (he goes to Oaks Christian where Clausen of Notre Dame and Chris Potter BSU went --- side note --- Wayne Gretzky's kid is next in line at Oaks, and he's unbelievable! -- I'm sure Chris Petersen knows that too) I would think the UDUB will redshirt him. Good core group return so the Dawgs could be at least competitive again! It's been a long, long time for those of us who are Huskies.

Okay so

Do you know what bowl you are going to? Never mind, let me re-phrase that, when will you know? What do you expect?

Most likely BCS bowl lineup

... 75% it is the Fiesta Bowl vs most likely Iowa (small chance for Penn St, even smaller for TCU). 15% for Orange vs GT. 10% for Sugar vs Florida.

Most likely bowl lineup:

GT vs TCU in the Orange
Iowa vs BSU in the Fiesta
Cinci vs Florida in the Sugar

The Chili Bowl, as usual, mild not wild.

Geez, the Beavers are

OSU is trying to load up on preseason games next year. Boise is on the schedule and they are trying to put together a game with TCU at Jerry's house in Dallas. That was reported yesterday in the Oregonian.

Ouch...

Considering how much trouble they usually have in their OOC games, I'm surprised they are looking at such a brutal OOC lineup. That would be @Boise State, and neutral site (but in Texas) vs TCU, two BCS teams. That's rough by anyone's standards.

Omikey

Would love to play Florida, hate the idea of playing TCU, would be fine with Iowa

I believe both Oregon and Washington lose only 15 seniors and have most skill positions back (Locker?)

I got

Tfunk, my info on Udub comes from post game babel last night... can't depend on it.

ESPN speculated that Cincinnati was hooking up with Florida.

Oregon looks good with Masoli, RB James is only a freshman (wow)... OL is young an very good. It does look promising.

Did you see Ndamukong Suh last night for Nebraska? Wow. Wish we could have kept him here in Oregon... a Portland boy, you know.

Almost got it right!

I am very surprised that Florida no longer holds the #1 spot, seeing that Tebo is the second coming of Christ and if they ever dropped the earth would flood and we have no ARK! Hike up your boots folks the earth is coming to end!

BSU should be ahead of Cincy, end or story! The two teams they have in common are Fresno and Miami, OH (Miami, a team that every hater dogged BSU about) Cincy beat Fresno by 8 points and Miami by 24. The Broncos beat Fresno by 17 and Miami by 48. Both of those games were road games for the broncos and Cincy almost lost at home to Fresno. In the end BSU should be ahead of them.

Prater got it right! Wow I never thought I would say that!

I feel your pain

But, I just don't think any of that logic comes into play now, at this stage... it's all money and politics. Basturds.

I stick to feeling my own pain, no empathy crap like Spock.

Miami (OH) was a home game for us. But I do agree that the Broncos should be higher than Cincinnati. Maybe even Texas. But I also agree that rankings don't matter that much at this point. As long as we get into a BCS game and take care of business there, we'll be fine. With a win, we should easily finish in the top 5. And with 20+ returnign starters next year, we should start the season in the top 10!

GO BRONCOS!!!

my bad

You're right, my bad I must have been thinking of Tulsa being the away game?

Maybe Bowling Green?

You may have been thinking of Bowling Green. They're also in Ohio, and both are in the same division of the MAC Conference. No worries, I got them mixed up more than once this season.

Omikey

What’s sad is they will say to your face on national television like its OK that it is about money. “Penn State will travel better and bring more money to the Bowl game” That’s like saying, “I married her because she has new implants and doesn’t talk much, I know I’m shallow but hey we are the BCS!”

The message it sends is, we don’t care how you play just as long as you look good doing it!

rankings dont matter now

getting a bcs game is all that matters now GO BRONCOS

omikey

I like Oregon a lot next year. Good returning players, cake walk non-con schedule. The only downside is Cal, USC, and OSU all on the road.

Washington is darkhorse no doubt, they have a killer non-con schedule, but you have to like what is going on there (as a Northwest fan).

In their own way Kelly and Sarkisian did truly amazing job this year.

Agree.......

Both Kelly and Sark have done great jobs although I must point out that the cupboard was not bare at Oregon. Sark had to make something out of nothing and thank God for Locker, otherwise it wouldn't have been very easy. Sark still has a recruiting job ahead and from the looks of the 'verbal' commits, it appears he's getting the job done already.

OSU

If they are, they would have to drop a game already scheduled Boise State, Eastern Washington , or Louisville. With Cal, USC, and Oregon at home it makes sense for them to beef things up out of conference.

Eastern Washington is the trade off

Correct. They have to find a substitute that makes the money thing okay for EW. said Oregonian.

omilk

the bcs announcement is set for 5 pst. bowl season should be fun. hopefully the wac & the pac 10 can go undeated. unless ucla plays idaho in which case we are all better off with a ucla win.

81 IQ

way to support your conference IQ81!

All who do not want BSU to play TCU is not because of the ratings, ect, it is because BSU would likely lose. Better chance against Iowa. Oh well.

ESPN projection

ESPN is projecting TCU v BSU in the fiesta. Sounds like the BCS does not want another beat down layed on a BCS conference school...

This makes absolutely no sense.

Fiesta said their primary focus was on traveling fans this year. If that is the case, and they have the second overall pick, it is a no-brainer to take Iowa or Penn State. I refuse to believe this until I see it officially announced...

You may want to turn off your TV then Marcsulf!!

Be prepared my friend. That would be the BCS's 'dream matchup' -- two non BCS schools pushed off into the desert so they couldn't possibly prove themselves by thumping two BCS schools. Go figure.

But it doesn't matter...

... what the BCS comittee wants at this point. The Fiesta has to intentionally shoot itself in the foot to put this matchup together. They have the second overall pick. Why in the world would they use it on TCU or BSU, considering that they will be ratings disasters for them?

Truth.

You tell the truth. Again.

Risking the wrath... BSU would not prove anything but TCU could.

Exactly the reason......

That's what the BCS was praying for (and probably lobbied the Fiesta heavily for).

Sports Illustrated/CNN...

is also reporting a TCU v. BSU match up.

A BSU/TCU game would be

A BSU/TCU game would be stupid... Last year they could barely fill the stadium.

TCU vs. BSU????? Not good!!!!

I agree Murph, 100%. TCU vs BSU is a bad deal. Two non-BCS teams -- just what the BCS wants!

What ratings? The east coast, where the highest percentage of eyeballs are located could care less about that matchup. The stadium will not be sold out. If both TCU and BSU were given the chance to prove themselves then they should both get a shot at one of 'the big boys' from BCS conferences. What a total cop-out by the BCS! If it's TCU vs BSU, then the BCS has an automatic fallback position of "the non AQ school lost. See, our great BCS system works!"

Too bad for all college football fans if that's the way it falls.

BOYCOTT!

If we are given nothing more than a rematch of last year's Poinsettia Bowl, then I advocate a full on boycott of the Fiesta Bowl. This is a blatant attempt to sequester the contending non-AQ teams. Unfair and a complete and total joke! Hopefully this will be a ratings disaster and very, very few tickets will be sold. Bronco nation should make a statement to the BCS, and that should be "Go to Hell!"

Yup, let's boycott this BS!

Yup, let's boycott this BS!

How long did you you boycott this site?

----------
Like a midair collision with a tugboat

TCU deserves better

Thank you BCS for kicking BSU and TCU in the nads. Are you afraid that two non-BCS opponents might beat two BCS teams? That would look bad wouldn’t it?

This totally sucks!

What a scam. All everyone says about both of these programs all year long is that they don't play anyone (except, of course, the Pac 10 champion and the ACC runner-up...), and then when both of them get a chance to prove themselves against a major name in a big time bowl game, they pit them against each other. This is a total lose-lose situation for both teams. If they win, all they did was beat a "mid-major". If they lose, they lost to a "mid-major". Not only that, but it is a rematch of last year's Poinsettia Bowl, and it is the 3rd time in seven seasons that the two teams have played each other in a bowl game. Uggh!

I'm not one to usually believe in conspiracies, but somebody paid the Fiesta bowl some major cash to put that match-up together. There is no other possible reason for the Fiesta to use their second overall pick on either of these teams.

"Idaho to play Bowling Green

"Idaho to play Bowling Green in Humanitarian Bowl"

Yawn...
That lineup should bring at least 30 or 40 people to the stadium!

No Way

If I were a Vandal fan, and had been waiting years for a return to a bowl game, I'd be jazzed about playing Bowling Green in the H-Bow. My guess is that Vandal fans will be out in force.

Boise State-TCU in the Fiesta Bowl

= SNUB! Hey, welcome to the party - you guys go sit over there at the kiddie table. Us grownups will be in the other room. Thanks for coming!

Dawg me too

Would love to have Locker back for one more, but he'll be the judge of that. Especially proud of the way the defense is looking.
While the local boys are crying about everybody afraid to play them- even though they've only one 1 time on the road- and hiring PR firms to spin it, I'd welcome them back to Husky stadium anytime- even Winless Willingham outcoached the local genius.
That said, it looks like Bleymeier scheduled the H-Bowl.

Come back and talk...

... when your team can beat Oregon.

Numb in the Brain?

You say U are a college fan but you just don't get that the year BSU played the Purple Lilly's it was a different team. Who was BSU's QB? I remember do you Mr. College Fan? Didn't even have to goggle it. Who was your QB? Also didn't have to Goggle it. I would love to see BSU take on the Purple Grapes with the present team now. How do you make wine? By squishing grapes. I would be taking cheese and crackers to that game.

college fan has a short memory

the dawgs win a couple games and he pops off. they have not won the rose bowl in your lifetime. be serious.

hope the trolls win the human bowl

only so the wac can improve the image.

OH BOY!!!! Idaho vs. Bowling Green!!!!

Whoa.......I can hardly wait!!! The anxiety is already building!!! Idaho against powerhouse Bowling Green in the H-Bowl!! (heavy sarcasm at play)

Really? Wow. IDaho might sell a few tickets but Bowling Green? Does their band have to buy tickets to get in? If so, they'll sell about 30-40 tickets. And that massive viewing audience? Whoa! A ratings block buster!! Let's see, how many people live in Moscow? Oh, I forgot that fan base up in Orofino.

No need to worry about getting a great seat to this marque game!

You're a bitter little guy, aren't you?

Why do you care so much about the Vandals? Really?

Thankfully, no one cares what you think. The stadium will be full of silver and gold cheering for a Vandal win.

Go Idaho!
