Yo, country fan: Where were you?

The Darius Rucker arena concert Oct. 28 at the Idaho Center essentially bombed. Ticket sales were so sorry that the promoter won't share the numbers publicly.

Rucker had three No. 1 country songs in 2008 and 2009. Any theories about why this particular gig disappointed, kids?

Not surprised

I was curious myself how many people would show up for this as the Idaho Center seemed to me to be way too big a venue for him. Perhaps people didn't know what kind of show they'd be getting-- all country or country/Hootie? Coming to town at this time of year, the Knitting Factory or Morrison Center would've been a more natural fit.

3 hit wonder

A one hit wonder (3hits) hardly makes a headliner.

First, consider most top 10 songs are there because the record label pushes the money to make the list- it doesn't mean people actually like those songs.

Secondly add the Hootie/country confusion...

I do like his CD but I'm not anxoius to spend more money to listen to him sing his ONE CD in person.

Did I mention he only has ONE cd, yet is trying to pull off a headliner act.

Deeds, if you care, do some research and see what his #s are in the other markets --

I don't care

Just kidding. I am a bit curious. But acquiring true ticket sales figures in other markets would require, like, wire tapping. Promoters do not like to disclose those numbers, particularly if an act is underperforming.

Hey Michael, if you're still up call the office and ask if...

there's a problem with the IS.com platform causing IE to abort the page.

skinnin cats

there's more than one way to get information...
how about searching and reading reviews in the other cities where he has performed... The Statesman is NOT the only newspaper in the country ya know.

We'll all see you at Emmylou Harris, right?? Nov 14/15 @ The Eqyptian.

I wouldn't trust the numbers, anyway

What makes you think a review in another market would include an attendance number at all — or, more important, a ticket sales number that didn't include all the free tickets given away to pad attendance? For example, I'm sure there were plenty of comps quietly dispensed here in Idaho.

It's unfortunate, but you have to maintain a healthy skepticism about attendance numbers provided by venues and promoters. It's just the way of the world.

OK, I think we've spent enough time on Darius Rucker. Heh.

Oh crap. Forgot and I'm broke now.

I LIKE his country act but yeah, an ensemble was a good idea.
