Pair of national writers put Moore at top of Heisman list

Two national college football writers told the Idaho Statesman this week that Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore is their top choice for the Heisman Trophy at this point in the season.

Pat Forde of ESPN.com gave Moore his first-place vote in the ESPN.com Heisman Watch. Los Angeles Times writer Chris Dufresne named Moore the player of the half-year and said Moore would be his choice right now if he had a vote.

Moore’s darkhorse Heisman candidacy is the focus of our Bronco GameDay cover in Saturday’s paper. He is fifth in ESPN.com’s Heisman Watch, seventh in the ESPN.com Heisman Predictor standings and tied for eighth in the HeismanPundit.com poll.

Here’s what Forde and Dufresne had to say:

“I love everything about Moore other than the general level of competition, but that really isn't his fault. Still, I have no idea whether I'll keep him (No. 1), move him down or vote for a long snapper by the time all is said and done. This is the most confusing Heisman race I can remember in 18 years as a voter.” — Forde

“Look at a quarterback who is leading the nation in passing on the No. 5 team in the nation. How does that not put you in Heisman contention? If Moore had ‘ND’ or ‘USC’ on his helmet, he'd be the odds-on favorite. Why should it matter that he plays for Boise? The voters have already acknowledged the Broncos are one of the elite teams in the country, but the quarterback can't be? … If there was ever going to be a year for this to happen, this might be it. But my guess is that it won't happen. I don't vote for the Heisman anymore … but if I did, Kellen Moore would be my leader right now.” — Dufresne

Moore’s brother, Kirby, a freshman wide receiver, got his first catch from Kellen last week.

Kirby has been used primarily as a blocker so far but says he knows most of the offense and hopes to expand his role each week.

“I’ve been blocking a lot lately,” he said. “That wasn’t something I focused on a lot in high school. It’s been a big thing I’ve tried to focus in on.”

San Jose State was 5-2 and appeared bowl-bound going into last year’s Boise State game.

Since then, the Spartans are 2-9 — including an ugly finish last year that cost them a bowl berth. The nine losses have come against teams that went on to play in bowl games last year or are expected to reach bowl games this year.

“Plain and simple, we’ve got to win,” wide receiver Kevin Jurovich said. “Right now we’re 1-5. We’ve got to win some games and we’ve got to do whatever it takes to do that.”

Kellen Moore for Heisman

I love it. Does not matter if he even finishes in the top 5. The press is all good for the Boise State University football program and the university as a whole.

This has to drive guys like .....

IdaDork and Dorkhammer crazy -- I mean, really, a BJC quarterback getting this kind of attention! Go Dorks, beat USC!

stats

What all the voters think is the same thing that all the haters think. Could he have those stats in a "real" conference. Probably. I think our recievers are some of the best in nation. Give them credit and the offensive line that doesn't give up sacks and gives him time.

CJ Spiller for Heisman

They must not be factoring in his contribution to the 11 fumbled snaps this year...

CJ Spiller and others are much more deserving.

LOL @ CJ Spiller

Look at his numbers. He's an afterthought, at the very best.

Which of his numbers would

Which of his numbers would you like to look at?
Maybe start with All Purpose Yards? He leads the nation with 207.9/game.
Career All Purpose yards? 6,363 in his career. With 5 more games to go this season, he's tracking to hit 7,000 which will make him only the 5th player in NCAA history to do so.
Kickoff Returns? 3rd in nation averaging 38.2 yds. He's currently tied for the NCAA record for career kickoff returns for a touchdown.
We could consider that he has done this on one of only 3 teams in the country to have played 3 Top 15 teams this year.
Maybe you would prefer to look at his scholastic numbers. Dean's List, First Team Academic All ACC in 2008, graduating in 3 1/2 years.

Take your pick.

Faction,

That is stricly your opinion, trust me. Our centers have had issues, the Quarterback has none.

nope

As inspiring as your loyalty is, the Statesman has said that Moore is partially responsible, the coaches have confirmed it, and Moore said so himself.

Just shows

that BSU works as a team. If one guy does bad they all take the blame. Is that pride before the fall? I don't see any pride in this Boise team. Well coached.

What the...

DOINK!

Moore for Heisman????

When did donkeys start flying?????

LOL!!!!

Uh Oh, don't look now...

...it's happened again, The Ducks in Sports Illustrated...again, Herbie calling Autzen one of the top 5 stadiums in all of college football and more ooozing turds coming from the mouths of mule nation.

Last time BJC was a feature in SI was, well...NEVER.

Last time the blue pee turf and the high school stadium was called anything other than a regional oddity was, well...NEVER.

Last time anyone took Boise football serious was, well...NEVER, as evidenced by Oklahoma and Oregon losing.

Last time an undefeated Boise team was passed in the polls by a team it beat was, well...THIS SUNDAY.

Last time I was racked on this blog by everyone who reads my words was, well...EVERYTIME I POST!!!

RACK ME AGAIN BBBBAAAAABBBBYYYYY!!!!!

Was that evidenced by the

Was that evidenced by the first time oregon lost to Boise, or the second time?

Is that all you got?

I mean my gosh...the only thing and I repeat...the only thing BJC can say about there whole season is game 1 sooo long ago. Oregon. they have proved nothing else except that one can consistently beat no name teams and have to bank there whole season on one win. That is really all BJC has to bellow about. Oregon now has continually got better and better consistently since game 1 and bellows all the way through the PAC 10 while boise state only rides our shirtails like a buger that you can't flick off. Go find something else to talk about for once besides your fluke win weeks ago. Oregon fans are not talking about the Washington win, the UCLA win and so on, nor the USC win after a week or so. Because we just win and move on and win we do. Unlike BJC that really bases it's whole season on a single event. I'm sorry but I'm comfortable saying yeh Boise state won but soooo what and time has proved all Oregon fans right. Just keeping the donkey turds at bay once again.

Brian G
Oregon

which year was the fluke?

Last year in your house or this year in ours?

Laugh all you want

- all of college football knows that BSU owns Oregon!!!!

Get help....please !

Dumb duck, your sooooooo busy "racking" yourself, maybe it's time you seek professional help with your "little" problem.
We (Boise State Fans) love it when the duckies win, it makes us look all the better. I hope the team we own (that would be YOUR duckies) slap USC around, and get that win. When Boise State punks the vandals, you can get together with that delusional lot, and have a good cry. Lastly you can bet that there are people who would love to "rack" you, but it's not in the way you think.

triple u

is what we have for you, you should be blocked, unwar you and everything your second class team stands for

I racked your wife

While you were racking yourself

welfare

Hmmm...Obama wins a nobel peace prize and Moore is nominated for the heismann...I guess feel good welfare is contagious. Will anyone in this country ever have to earn anything again? lol Don't bother, you know what the arguments are and there is no debate left...just a slow, disrespecting, week-after-week descent down the polls.

Great win over San Jose State...

...but it's all going to come crashing down on turd town.

Factoid Oregon winning does not help you. You only played on real game, not a schedule of them, so, tomorrow when Oregon jumps to 4 or 5 and BJC falls out of the top 10, the college football world will right itself as the path to the Poinsetta Bowl becomes clear for donkeynation.

Out Rack me again, what's new about that??

Let me count the ways

BF**ked2009,

Let me count the ways you were wrong:

1) "tomorrow when Oregon jumps to 4 or 5" WRONG Oregon 8 in the BCS
2) "BJC falls out of the top 10," WRONG BSU stays at 7 in the BCS
3) "the college football world will right itself as the path to the Poinsetta Bowl becomes clear for donkeynation"
Don't know about this one and as I try to deal in facts and not speculation, time will tell.

Please share you next "pearls of wisdom" and give us your predictions for next week. I need a good laugh. Fortunately most Oregon fans have some class, unlike you, and for that reason... Congrats Oregon on a great win. Good Luck the rest of the year.

An historic beatdown in Eugene...

...Oh my goodness, where do I begin??

Well I guess for starters, the college football world now knows what a fluke losing to the Boise juco was. Did ya'll listen to Gameday, Brent Musburger and Herbie. Oregon has proven the fluke in turdtown has no bearing on the BCS as we are about to pass the mules.

As I have said all season, wiggitty wacks don't belong and all this ignorant mule speak about BJC in the BCS is about to go out the window,

History, much like the Idaho state TV show, Hee Haw is.

613 yards, 392 on the ground.

What mulenation wanted is Oregon to win 21-20, not lay an historic, monumental beatdown on Troy. Now the voters have no choice but to acknowledge that the blue pee group is way out of its league and the Ducks would take down any of those top 3 unbeatens

OUT FOR NOW BUT CONTINUE TO RACK ME BBBBAAAABBBBYYYY!!!!

Your worship and racking of me will continue...

...throughout the season.

As my man Mark May says, it's all about the body of work, strength of schedule. Boise has neither, only one win against a great team who had an off night. I mean 19-8 is hardly a dominating win......

...and I would submit that LGB's 1 punch beatdown of Hout is worth a couple of TD's LOL

Anyhoo, cream always rises and the college football world has witnessed tonight the factoid of factoids, which is this;

Any team, even a wiggitty wack can beat another on a given day, witness Boise's wins over Oklahoma and Oregon, however, when coupled with 11 other wins over DII caliber teams, that one win really means nothing.

Oregon now has wins over 3 ranked teams, 2 top ten teams and another that beat Ohio state.

All Oregon did tonight was expose the Boise win over the Ducks as the fluke it was.

Bye Bye Muledroppings, not really, I will remain on my blog, keeping turds in line and getting racked post after post.

Oregon Dominates USC.....No surprises except for Boise Mule fans

Did BDuck2009 spell it out? You really said it all. I can only ditto all of that. Now that as baby blue looks atop the chart all they see is a big green O looking down upon there pitiful schedule and meaningless win so long ago as Oregon delivers USC there worst loss in 12 years. Boise, I'm sorry but this is one time when the BCS really gets it right when they place O above Mule. Just Pray that you don't lose against one of those high school teams you are playing because you'll automatically fall out of the top 25 the next day. That is how bad the polls are looking for an excuse to get you out of there where you really do not belong.

Brian G
Oregon

Favorite saying "It must be nice to play one big game then go on and play high school teams all year and still be ranked." What a gift.

I wonder

If UO would've beat BSU would they be ranked #1 above Florida? Well they didn't and if the BCS ranks UO above BSU it just shows how screwed up the system is. Very impressive win ducks, prepared well, executed well, and you are awarded with a win. Learning from the Bronc's aren't you-1st game of the year BSU prepared well, executed well and came away with the win. Good job little patawan you're learning. Get this, BSU is firing on all cylinders too: UH 54-9, SJSU 45-7.

Makes my day

BF**ked2009, blg8588,

It makes my day to read your posts. To know that you spend so much of your time posting about BJC, a team that only plays high school teams not wait they have one hard game a year makes me laugh. In trying to put down BSU as irelevant, you only reinforce the impact that BSU has had on not only you, but all of college football. I don't have time to educate your ingnorent azzes about what BSU has accomplished in the short time we have been a FBS team. Before you talk smack, you might want to do some research. Please read slow and go back over it several times so that your little pea brains get a chance to absorb. BF I don't know about racking again and again, but I do know you continue to be wrong again and again. But please, keep it up, you guys make me laugh.

O above Mule NOT

"That is how bad the polls are looking for an excuse to get you out of there where you really do not belong."

So blg8, blah blah blah. I guess we can assume that you are in constant communication with all the pollsters and computers. You must be or the above quotes smacks of wishfull thinking. While I don't know if Oregon will pass BSU if we both continue to win, "Just Pray that you don't lose", might be a montra you keep in mind for yourself. You are 1 loss away from a nothing bowl as well. Just a thought.
