Plenty of tickets still available for Boise State-San Jose State game
Nearly 1,500 tickets remain for Saturday’s 1 p.m. kickoff between No. 6 Boise State and WAC foe San Jose State at Bronco Stadium.
There are also a number of student and guest tickets remaining.
Fans can purchase three tickets and receive one free in the south end zone as part of the Broncos’ “Tick-et Treat” promotion.
Fans are encouraged to wear orange to the Halloween day game.

• Interesting thoughts from The New York Times’ college football blog.
From the blog:
Scenario No. 1: U.S.C. wins and Texas loses.
Both teams win their conferences and finish the season with one loss. Pencil the SEC champion into the national title game and imagine Iowa and Cincinnati go undefeated. Who plays in the national title game? Iowa? Cincinnati? Could those teams be skipped for a one-loss U.S.C. or Texas? That would certainly make for a sexier matchup, but an undefeated B.C.S. conference school has never been skipped over for a one-loss team. Then you have to throw possibly undefeated T.C.U. and Boise State into the conversation.
Your brain hurting yet? Let’s keep going.
Scenario No. 2: Oregon finishes with one loss and Texas finishes with one loss. Iowa and Penn State finishes with one loss and Cincinnati, Boise State and T.C.U. go undefeated. Again, imagine the SEC champion for one of those spots in the B.C.S. National Title Game. Who you got for the other spot and why?
My take: In Scenario 1, Iowa would get the shot at the national title game opposite the SEC champion.
In Scenario 2, Cincinnati would get the national championship shot. Though, I would not rule out the loser of the SEC Championship Game getting a rematch in this scenario.
• Recruiting slow for Favre’s nephew: A reader sent me this story suggesting that Boise State might be a good fit for Dylan Favre. I don’t know about that, but I thought the story was interesting.

Huh?
We have one of the best teams in the country and still can't sell out all the tickets?? Is Halloween really more important than football? This wouldn't be the case at other colleges.
Seating, tickets and Haloween
Well number one Haloween has nothing to do with it, I just don't want to sit in an end zone or the nose bleed section along a 10 yard line, number 2, the economy sucks and sports tickets are a luxury not a necessity. If the prices had not been raised the last couple of years I might be there but as the economy sucks I'm happiest not spending extra cash I'll listen to the radio version thank you.
trouble
This isnt a message board for you to air out your financial problems. If Bronco football was important enough you would pay the dough. Radio, seriously?
This is hilarious
BSU honks...you know why people call you fair weathered fans? this is it. a top 5 team(deserved or not) and you can't even fill up a 33k stadium? seriously? come on. nebraska fills a 80k stadium with half the population of Boise area.
The difference is some people bleed for their school, others do it while their popular. If BSU lost a couple games they would struggle to get past 30k at games.
Fact Check
The Omaha-Council Bluffs MSA population was 837,925 in 2008. That is a short drive (<1hr) from Lincoln. The Lincoln NE MSA population was 278,728 in 2008. That is a combined MSA population of 1,116,653 within an hour drive of Lincoln. The Boise MSA population in 2008 was 564,859 (half the size of the Nebraska market). It is also interesting that you cherry picked the most rabid fan base in the nation to compare with the Broncos. The Huskers have sold out every game since November 3, 1962 --- a streak of just over 300 consecutive games. No other school comes even close.
weak
There is just no excuse...lol. People show up to see top tier competition and that is nowhere on BSU's resume--that is why people don't buy tickets. BSU just isn't worth it this year...I would go to the VTech game next year if BSU doesn't run away from it first--that's probably the first ticket worth buying since the Fiesta Bowl.
Once again...
I have said it before. BSU fans want the respect as if they are a big time program, but they cannot even sell out their small stadium when ranked high in the standings.
The reason that larger programs will not schedule a home-home series is for this. BSU cannot sell out a small stadium, thus they have no financial justification to build a larger stadium to increase revenues.
Clemson, who is not the greatest of football programs historically sells out their 80,000 seat stadium when the town only has 20,000 residents!
Clemson
Hmm, I wonder if the fact that Greenville population of about 1.5 million is 40 Miles away. And Atlanta, Ga is about 120 miles away has anything to do with it.
In no way
does it matter to you that New York can't sell out it's World Series tickets either ? Once again.......it's the economy. How many sporting options does Nebraska have ? If Boise State was the only option in town, I could see your point. Being a top 5 or 10 team is not changing people's financial standing, (unemployment at near 10% included). I would like it if we sell out every game too, but we have to give the economy time to turn around. Petersen, and his staff are not stupid, they know it will happen.
Game
In hindsight, I bet the Idaho or Nevada game will sell out. San Jose just happens to suck this year..
Really.
Just like every other team in your conference.
BSU football
BSU football, for the most part, is boring. Personally I derive no pleasure from watching massacres week in and week out.
tickets?
would have been nice if article told how to get tickets. I seldom go, but I am interested...

here is a link for BSU tickets. Have fun and go BSU!!!

Haters
YOu forget that BSU is a growing program that has only been DIV 1 for 13 years. Oregon has only sold out the last 60 games. Late 70's, the 80's and the early 90's there were games there that were very small. I went to a game in the mid 80's and there were less than 20,000. Whay is it that BSU must be compared to colleges with 100 year histories all the time? Because you are all jealous of how fast we are growing and that we are getting as much recognition as the 100 year plus old dominant schools. Jocdoc, pull that object out of your #ss. It might get stuck in there.
yup
Holy welfare comment batman. I think people would be jealous if you actually played somebody or had a match worth buying a ticket to this weekend. Broncos don't really show up in a professional non-fumbling manner every week so why should their fans? People know when they are watching sloppy overrated football and the ticket sales reflect that.
This is silly
If we look at attendance in a more objective manner, as a percentage of capacity, then BSU does very well. Based on 2008 data, Boise State ranked 15th nationally in attendance as a percentage of capacity, at 100.9%. Navy was #1 at 116.6%, followed by Oregon (108.6%), Nebraska (104.9%), Oklahoma (103.6%), and Kentucky (102.7%). They will, once again, be very close to 100% attendance this year, as well, given the filled-to-the-gills Oregon game, and the sure-to-be-more-than-sellout Idaho and Nevada games to come. The fact is, if they hadn't added 1800 seats this season, every game so far would have been a sellout, too.
BSU is good but not that good in conparison to the Big Schools
BSU is good but not that good. The only reason they are ranked so high is that they go undefeated. Do the BSU fans really think they are a top 5-10 team? I doubt it. They are overrated. They play a really weak schedule. The BCS also likes to have a few dark horses/cinderalla teams to talk about to juice up the season. If BSU had to play bigger teams on a more regular basis their record would not be that good. Maybe 7-4. But, you know I would prefer that they play the bigger schools and have their record not be so good. It is boring watching them play the teams they play now. I even think they might play better against the bigger schools. They need to get use to it on a regular basis. They are playing awful right now. They are playing with no authority or drive. But, if the game was against a better team, they might be more psyched up with more on the line and play better. It happened with Oregon. They definitly need to get out of this conference. The other teams in this conference are hurting them and the fans.
WHO WROTE THIS
Was this a 5th grade writing assignment by a student in Moscow? This was terrible.
Comparing to Oregon
Oregon's 60 games of sellouts covers more than ten years (they average six games at home per year). Eugene is actually smaller than the Treasure Valley and the stadium is considerably larger. Even when the Ducks suck, people go to the games. And the economy in Eugene is slumped more than this area. The lack of respect for BSU has more to do with fan support than with the team's performance or abilities. When fans start turning out rain, snow or shine and pay the prices set, BSU will benefit nationally.
you can't compare the two
Listen, I work in downtown Portland, and with the economy the way it is, we've been asked to work weekends. Do you know what my colleagues said? "Only on 'at' weeks." Portland employees, in a city with 14% unemployment, still need their Saturdays to go down to Autzen Stadium. And there are two million of us, four times the population of the Treasure Valley. Why so adamant? Because they've been playing against these teams for A HUNDRED YEARS. Every single team in the Pac-10 has been playing football since the 1800s.
It's completely absurd to compare that to a team with no nearby metropolitan areas who have been in Div 1-A football for 8 years. When you compare the Broncos faithful to the Oregon faithful of 1903, Boise's actually doing pretty darn well for themselves.
Bonwell
Thank you, I think BSU and its fans are doing "pretty darn well" myself. Thanks for being a fan in Portland (another great town).
uh if a lot of you don't like the broncos..
..move to florida and whine about the Gators lack of offense
Tickets still available...
Duh! What's San Jose State's record again, and who did they beat?
A more appropriate question...
... would be "who did they lose to?" The combined record of the teams they lost to is 27-10.
let's choose, Murf the Smurf...
A.) would you support BSU Football before the statesman?
B.) would you support another newspaper other than the our current birdcage liner?
C.) is the statesman really a newspaper?
D.) man-up Brian
Shut up...jealousy is poisonous.

Boise State's excess ticket issue is just not that big of a deal. Haters - find something else to hate about...
From Yahoo Rivals.com
Monday with Mike: Potential BCS Matchups
"We talked about the importance of selling tickets and turning on TV sets when we discussed the BCS earlier. That means this number—33,541—can’t make BCS officials happy. That’s the attendance at TCU’s home game Saturday against UNLV—almost 11,000 short of capacity. A team that went into the game ranked sixth in the BCS draws 11,000 short of capacity for homecoming? Weak"
