Rake Up Nampa 2009: rakers, home owners with leaves needed
The annual event that matches teams of volunteers armed with muscle, with seniors and disabled residents who need help cleaning up their yards, needs you.
The rake up this year happens in Nampa on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Businesses, churches, civic groups, schools and neighborhood organizations are encouraged to form volunteer teams of about 10 people, and fill out an application with the City of Nampa by Nov. 6, 2009.
Residents who would like to have their lawn raked must be over 60 and/or be disabled, live in the home requiring raking assistance, and be unable to afford help. They need to have an application submitted to the city by Nov. 2, 2009.
If you want to help, if you need help, or know someone who could use some help, call Aviva at 468-5472 or kolljeskyg@cityofnampa.us.
This year volunteers will kick off the event by sitting down to a pancake breakfast before they pick up their rakes on Nov. 14.
This event is sponsored by the City of Nampa Community Development Division, Washington Trust Bank, Sam’s Club and Tates Rents.
