While much of the focus this week (and for several before) has been on the Broncos’ Bowl Championship Series hopes, there is a game to play.

The Broncos (6-0, 1-0 in the WAC) visit Hawaii on Saturday. The game kicks off at 9 p.m. MDT.

Let’s take a closer look at the Warriors (2-4, 0-3). Hawaii has lost four straight since opening the season with victories against Central Arkansas and Washington State.

The Warriors are down to their third-string quarterback with walk-on Bryant Moniz. Moniz was 30-of-42 for 360 yards with one touchdown and one interception against Idaho last week.

Wide receiver Greg Salas caught 10 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown last week. He is second in the nation in receiving yards per game with 131.8.

Center John Estes might be the Warriors’ best player. He has started 47 consecutive games, the longest streak in the WAC.

Hawaii is 24-0 when scoring 40 or more points since 2005. But the Warriors are averaging just 23.67 points per game.

Forget balance: The Warriors rank third in the country in passing offense (371.33 yards per game) and 117th nationally in rushing offense at (71.83 yards per game).

Look for a big game from running backs Jeremy Avery and Doug Martin. Hawaii is allowing 200.5 yards per game on the ground.
