Boise State and UC Davis played a scoreless first quarter in the rain Saturday night at Bronco Stadium.
The Broncos drove to the 1-yard line on their first possession. Tailback Doug Martin was stuffed for no gain on third and fourth down from the 1.
The Broncos went three-and-out on their second possession. They were held scoreless in the first quarter for the third time in five games this season.

Cornerback Kyle Wilson and offensive guard Kevin Sapien didn't start against UC Davis because of injuries.
Wilson was with the first team during warm-ups, so he likely will play. He suffered a shoulder injury in practice and missed much of the week's preparation. Sophomore Jerrell Gavins replaces him in the starting lineup.
Sapien likely won't play at all because of a nagging shoulder injury. Freshman Brenel Myers replaces him at right guard.
UC Davis changed three starters for the game. Most notably, leading tackler Dozie Amajoyi has been replaced by Marshall Congdon at strong-side linebacker. The Aggies also replaced free safety Ramsey Moyer and defensive tackle Brock Galvin with their backups. No reasons were given.

whatever...13-0 on a D-IAA team...here's a hint BSU--if you don't believe, nobody else will either. Fresno State beat this team 51-0...of course, they play up...BSU just sort of shows up until the last bowl game...which they generally lose...lol. What a boring overrated team...this game says everything you need to know...after one half...I wonder if BSU will show up for the second half...lol.

Actually I think the local pro BSU market spoke, if you want them to come to game, schedule a game, and play like it is a game. I am a season ticket holder, I bought 5 and give 3 away to friends each week. I had a real hard time getting in the Truck and driving to the game. Yet I hand no problem getting in the same Truck and driving to Fresno. I belive that we witnessed the invisible hand of the Market working.
The invisible hand will really affect the market place if the re entry policy is changed like the security guards said they would be for the next home game. If I can not put me seats down and walk around the parking lot, I really am not sure that I want to go at all. Way to take the fun out of our stadium BSU.

Wow! I don't care how you look at this it is bad for Boise State--the critics are right. UC Davis couldn't hang anywhere near Fresno State but they can hang with BSU. It doesn't matter if Kyle Wilson played or not, their highly acclaimed front four couldn't even get pressure on the UC Davis quarterback. Voters have got to wonder now--does BSU deserve their inflated ranking? We certainly don't have to ask if they deserve any more than minimal BCS consideration. This team would be a joke in any BCS game--let alone the title game!

Your comment about Fresno State has no merit. Why do you even bring them up? We already beat Fresno at their stadium so we know we are better than them. That said, we are definitely playing like crap. It's an off-night...all teams have them, even good ones. I wouldn't be surprised if we get jumped in the polls. Last week, I would've said we deserve a top 5 ranking. This week, no way. We have to play better than that to be considered a top team in the nation.
But...
the off night excuse doesn't fly for teams playing against BSU. When BSU beat Oregon and a lot of people said it was because Oregon played horrible and had an off night, BSU fans said it was all excuses and the reason Oregon had an off night was because of BSU. So, why isn't the reason BSU had an off night because of UC-Davis? I think what happened was that BSU finally played a team with a ton of pride. UC-Davis knew that they were being overlooked, fans were talking about how easy this was going to be, how beneath BSU the team was, how BSU should pull their starters early in the game to rest them for the games they would be needed, and that at least one of their players when interviewed admitted that it was difficult to mentally get up for a team like UC-Davis, etc. UC-Davis had some pride and decided that BSU should have to work for something and played their butts off. It is kind of fun, however, to hear BSU fans using the same excuses Oregon fans used when BSU fans had told Oregon fans where to take their excuses.

All week long Coach Pete stressed how any team can win and even drew comparisons to the Portland State game of a few seasons ago but evidently he didn't make that point clear to his coaching staff or to the kids because this game was exactly like the Portland State game and BSU is lucky to have won. As far as the pride thing goes, I think it's unfair to say that Cal-Davis had pride and our other opponents didn't because this was more of a case of BSU poor play than it was a case of Cal-Davis' good play and Fresno's 51-0 drilling of Cal-Davis is a testament to that.
If any of the current Top 5 teams were to have played Cal-Davis this weekend instead of us, we might have seen a score in the triple digits.
BTW, If we had to play Oregon again instead of Tulsa, Oregon would hammer us because we appear to be getting worse as the season goes while Oregon seems to be getting better, but you're spot on about the excuses

Boise state should be up 55-6 right now, like in every game they have played, including Oregon. As always Boise State is their biggest competition. If they shoot themselves in the foot, things like this happen, if they don't, they roll. Look at Iowa with two blocked field goals to beat Northern Iowa. Go bronco's. Keep winning. TCU and Houston struggling mightily tonight as well.

Wow...they might win this one but this is the equivalent of getting completely handled by a DIAA team. Voters will take notice :) I'm just flipping in and out, between the "real" games being played today, but when a channel 7 announcer puts the team down you know it's pathetic. Not to worry though...I think Davis could beat the rest of the teams on BSU's schedule...lol.

120th weakest schedule in College football that is what you have and to be honest the way BSU played you would get crushed in a real conference. I have no respect for the scheduling at all and the fans believe that they are number five in the country hey Butch Otter we donthave a meth problem we have Crack problem and all the homers are smoking it, and another great homer job by the officials BSU reciever pushed off in the endzone and the DB gets called for pass interference... I am not a Vandal fan I am a football fan and tired of the scheduling BSU does.

Only sport you have to tell a kid he can't compete for a national championship. These games have been scheduled for 6-7 years. The Washington Redskins are paying both VaTech and BSU to play at Fed Ex Field and while most scheduling is done far in advance, there are instances where teams can sign a deal and play the next year, like the VaTech game you pointed out, as well as when Idaho State inked a deal with Georgia for 2010 last week.
Seems kinda sad that Idaho State can set up a game in Athens, Ga for next year, but BSU can't, or won't. A BSU win in Athens would have redeemed the previous loss of a few seasons ago, but oh well

1) Foise fans are not into the game in that high school stadium,
2) Admitted to getting over matched in bowl games for the past two years,
3) Over inflated rankings,

5) Put yourself in the same breath with Cincy, Alabama, and VT, only Foise played UC Davis at home (no comparisons there),

duck fan, you got zero first downs in the first half. So for thirty minutes of football, the "best" offense in the county can not move the ball 10 yards in 3 plays. You had a short field all evening... so how is that lucky.. was it a single bad call, was it a single bad tackle. Were you tricked by a crazy miss type direction play.

So continue to play your weak schedule of WSU, AU, ASU, Cal, Purdue, UW, Utah, Oregon State(judging by how they did against cincinati in corvalis and how fresno did vs them in ohio), Stanford and UCLA. I mean really USC is the only good team in the PAC 10 and they are an average Big 12 North team so far this year.
I also loved how all summer all we heard was how Oregon is practicing at an extreme rate of speed that short, small, slow Broncos could never be able to handle the pace of the Ducks waddle. And it was a great plan, it got Oregon poor excuse of team off the field much quicker than the previous year.
