Boise State's Young, Idaho's Dixon, Fresno State's Mathews earn honors
Boise State kickoff returner Titus Young was named WAC special teams player of the week Monday morning. Young had five returns for 154 yards, including a 77-yarder. He had a return touchdown wiped out by penalty as well. Young also had three receptions for 29 yards and one touchdown and recovered a fumble in the end zone for another touchdown in the Broncos' 51-34 victory against Fresno State on Friday.
Idaho junior linebacker JoJo Dickson was named the WAC defensive player of the week. Dickson had six tackles and a first-quarter interception that he returned 74 yards for a touchdown in the Vandals' 34-20 victory against San Diego State.
"He really is a big spark, a big heartbeat of our defense," Idaho coach Robb Akey said.
Fresno State junior Ryan Mathews was named the WAC offensive player of the week. He rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns of 60 yards or more against Boise State on Friday. Mathews leads the league in rushing at 149 yards per game.

Good Choices
Every area football coach ought to be drooling over the fumble that Titus Young recovered in the end zone. It's a perfect lesson for young players on why you never quit until the play is over.
Ryan Mathews definitely earned his title, too. He totally befuddled the Broncos defense. It's got to be a big letdown to have three 60+ yard touchdown rushes and not win the game, though.
And even though I'm a Bronco fan, good job to the JoJo Dickson and the Vandals. Hopefully they'll win a few more (but lose at least one more...)
Nice reply...
it is refreshing to read an intelligent response with no "smack" talk, adolescent putdowns, hatred driven namecalling, and "funny" jabs. Hopefully your class is contagious and future responses will be as worthy. Thanks again.
Can you relay that message
Can you relay that message to the Vandal fans?
From what I can tell...
there is enough blame on both sides and from posters from outside the "rivalry" as well. Unfortunately, I believe it has become a part of sports "culture" as well as "popular" culture (i.e. Kanye West). Luckily, it seems like there is getting to be soooooo much of it, that people are finally getting frustrated and no longer see it as entertaining as they used to and are realizing the long-term effects such negativity and hostility has on people. Therefore, I am hopeful that the next generation might step up and bring back respect, responsibility, class, manners, morals, etc. So, yes, I will pass it on to the Vandal fans, as well as the Bronco fans, and to any other fans that care.
I agree that posters ought
I agree that posters ought to rise above the juvenile trash-talk that dominates the response to every Bronco or Vandal- themed article... However, I have to note that most of the negativity seems to come from the supposedly more "scholarly" alumni from up north.
It's good to see that Coach Akey finally has the Vandal program growing the right way - and moving in the right direction. I hope the Vandals do well - except when they play the Broncos. Hats off to any D-1 team that is doing the things the way they should be done and prospering because of it.
Go Broncos - And Vandals
SCREW THAT!
first of all the vandals suck and once again are where they belong... below BSU... 2nd how you don't give Avery Offensive player of week is beyond me. He had 272 all-purpose yards against the dogs. Not taking anything away from Matthews but Avery was the MVP of that game.
Horra
your posts are pretty mature and intelligent I wouldn't expect this outburst from U. Must work alongside a bunch of Vandal Alum that can't let go of the 80's-early 90's. Avery did do exceptionally well in that game.
MY APOLOGIES
I'll just never forget that vandal lady a few years ago sitting behind me screaming her head off just to do it almost in jest. BSU won 70-35 but good grief that was a rough day for me. Wife is a formal Vandal and so is her twin sister so anytime I get to rub it in on them I don't hesitate. Yes she was screaming! ugh!
Wasn't
that the Game where Z almost lost it for us. Lucky for his backup, not Bush, the game was solidified in the forth. Your first mistake, you married a Vandal-sucks to be you:) Just kidding, use duck tape on game day.
Play nice ?
Forget it ! Call people whatever you like if that's what gets you through the football season..............There is too much bad blood after years of vandal condescending trash talk (yes, even after they continue to get blown out by the Broncos). So pretend that were all going to "play nice"- you people are delusional. I hope the vandals NEVER win another game, go back to the Big Sky where you belong. How is that for "nice" ?
Well,...
as for "nice", it could probably use a little work, though it does explain the "monster" part of your name. But hey, hate has been around since the beginning of time, so it probably is unrealistic to think it will ever disappear completely. My hope is that it just remains at a minimum. It really doesn't do anyone any good and really has no place in our lives, except to divide and make miserable. For me, there is enough misery in the world already, I don't want to choose to bring on more.
RIGHT ON, HORRA!
I personally dug your comment. Let's go grab a beer sometime, ON ME!
Please ignore the others and know that deep down inside you are right. I support you 100%!
BroncoEast
Come on
Is there any mercy left for the AG and AU?
