FOOTBALL

Lance Johnson, Parma Panthers: The 6-foot, 185-pound junior led the defending 2A state champions to a 7-0 victory against 3A Parma on Friday by scoring the only touchdown with a 1-yard dive into the end zone with 8:44 to play in the second quarter. He finished with 18 carries for 100 yards.

VOLLEYBALL

Megan Sorenson, Rocky Mountain Grizzlies: The 6-1 junior outside hitter recorded 26 kills, five aces and four blocks in a season-opening victory against Centennial on Thursday. The Grizzlies won 22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 18-25, 18-16.

BOYS SOCCER

Justin Hill, Boise Braves: The senior opened the week with two goals and an assist in an 8-0 victory against Caldwell on Monday, then added three goals in a 5-0 victory against Capital on Wednesday. The defending 5A state champions are off to a 3-0-0 start.

GIRLS SOCCER

Carissa Cooper, Rocky Mountain Grizzlies: The 5-5 junior forward scored six times last week. She scored once in a 5-4 victory against Meridian on Thursday, and found the back of the net five times and added an assist in an 11-2 victory against Skyline on Saturday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Ryan Jaggi, Weiser Wolverines: The reigning 3A state champion defended his title at the Jimmy Driscoll Invitational and improved on his winning time from last season by 20 seconds. The senior crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 39.3 seconds.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Emily Nist, Bishop Kelly Knights: The reigning 4A state champion pulled away from the competition to win the Jimmy Driscoll Invitational in 19:16.2 — 20 seconds ahead of runner-up Rebecca Lassere (BK). Nist placed second last season at the same race in 19:43.6.
