A quick look at the Ducks' stars; Herbstreit likes Wilcox, Harsin

I’ve been rounding up quotes about the Ducks the past few days. Here are some highlights:
On T.J. Ward, the hard-hitting safety:
“He’s an intense football player. He’s got a tremendous respect from his teammates,” Oregon coach Chip Kelly said. “… He’s as physical of a football player as there is in the country, but the thing I love about T.J. is his dedication. When T.J. practices, it’s all out — every drill we do, everything we do.”
On Jeremiah Masoli, the dual-threat quarterback:
“He will run through you — that’s what I’m most impressed with in him,” Boise State safety Jeron Johnson said. “… We’re somewhat joking about it, but it’s a serious matter — you don’t want to be the guy who gets run over by a quarterback. He definitely can do it.”
On LeGarrette Blount, the 6-foot-2, 240-pound tailback:
“I guess that physical part (of my game) comes from my dad being a linebacker,” Blount said. “I’ve heard stories of him denting in people’s helmets and cracking people’s helmets. That’s probably where I get my physical running style from.”
On Kelly, who will make his head coaching debut this week:
“He’s a real modest person, but he really is almost a genius when it comes to X’s and O’s on the offensive side,” Masoli said. “As a quarterback, I notice his playcalling. Sometimes he gets in a zone in a game where his playcalling is just out of this world.”
On Oregon’s offense:
“They seem to get things like first downs and touchdowns in bunches,” Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson said.
“They just run the ball so well — and on top of that, it’s creative, it’s real creative. It’s fun to watch,” Boise State coach Chris Petersen said.
We'll have our Ducks scouting report and a Blount feature in Tuesday's edition of the Idaho Statesman.

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit posted his ninth-annual Herbie Awards on Monday.
Boise State defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox is No. 2 on the list of up-and-coming assistant coaches. Offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin is No. 5.
Also, Herbstreit listed Bronco Stadium at No. 4 on a list of places College GameDay needs to visit.

"Sometimes he gets in a zone
"Sometimes he gets in a zone in a game where his playcalling is just out of this world".... bronco heads will be spinning.
Huh?
Maybe! Truth is, there were heads spinning about 12 months ago a'. Hope this is a hugely disappointing trip for Shmuck fans!
Why did the duck lead the
Why did the duck lead the bronco across the road?
He tried to but
he got killed on the road. Sad duck tail.
Why in heavens name is a
Why in heavens name is a horse blue?
uuh?
Uhh. I don't know. Why?
he misses his
little duck buddy who got killed on the road.
Must be nervous
I have yet to read any news coverage from any Oregon newspapers. It amazes me to see how many Oregon fans comment on our Statesman. Makes me think what they must be thinking.
I love how we as BRONCOS just let it all play out.
It will be a good hard fought victory like last year. It will be close. We need to bring it!
GO BRONCOS!
play out
Yes letting it play out is definitely a characteristic of blue horses. So is peeing wherever they happen to be standing and letting flies crawl all over them. I sure wish I was a horse! Who painted the horses blue anyway?
I'd rather be a Duck any
I'd rather be a Duck any day!! Way cooler uniforms and lots more money in our program!!
Go Ducks!!!
two more reasons
not to be a mud hen fan
Don't worry about them..
Don't worry about them.. Their panties are still in a bunch now that Salem is the bigger city over there....
And 2 more reasons to be a
And 2 more reasons to be a Beaver fan... Go Beavs! Can't wait till they hand you yours over there in your own house again...
Male bonding?
Its so cute how bs-who fans have this bond with beav fans.
Not male bonding at all...
Not male bonding at all... You see, I lived in Oregon for 10 years. I know that most of Oregon isn't like Eugene (Portland's little sister). And most of Oregon is rooting for the Broncos. The Ducks are nothing more than Phil Knights' little red headed step child. Good luck on Thursday, tho. I'll be man enough to come back and congratulate the Ducks on a win, if they do... Will you be able to do the same for BSU?
sorry
I wont be "man" enough for you. I'm a woman and You sound gay.
You'd think someone from
You'd think someone from Eugene would have an easier time recognizing if someone is gay or not. Hmmm, guess I was as wrong as you for once....
Where you at girl? Or
Where you at girl? Or should I say .. He-she............ I know who you are "a little birdy " told me. Don't worry, I won't tell anybody.....
No it won't...
...you and all of turd nation know that the donkeys will be luccky to lose by thirty. I't gonna be a hoedown!!!!!
Rack Me again, will it ever end????
Racking off
Stop Racking yourself. Put the tube of duck butter down. You could go blind man. Wash with soap as duck butter is not water soluable. Your hands could start to grow feathers.
Because that's been the
Because that's been the history? When was the last time we lost to any Pac 10 school by 30? Do you attend a lot of hoedowns over there in the mighty metropolis of Eugene? You seem to metion them a lot so I just assumed...
Any questions

Cut and paste to your task bar. Be afraid...be very afraid.
Hey genius, how do you cut
Hey genius, how do you cut and paste to a task bar? I'd think someone who went to college would know how to use a computer. Maybe it's hard to work a mouse with your bill?
I feel sorry for whoever put
I feel sorry for whoever put the rag of U-tube highlight film together. @ :28 - :33 and illegal hit on a receiver that had been tripped and was falling down - should have been an ejection. @ 2:25 spearing with helmet by a D-back. I don't follow the Ducks but hope this penalty was called. Once again @ 2:48 a horse collar tackle on the quarterback, again and illegal play. This is the type of behavior you wish to highlight???
I feel sorry for how bad
I feel sorry for how bad you're about to get owned.
@ :28 the hit was perfectly legal. He wasn't a receiver..He was a QB. He didn't get tripped..must be the blue and orange colored glasses clouding your vision. Also, anybody running the ball is fair game..take note BJC fans..he wasn't defenseless. He put his head down and got rocked.
@ 2:25 those glasses are getting worse for you. What the hell are you looking at? Besides the same thing that TJ Ward is going to do to you in 2 days? Another great hit..BSU, again take notice. That's how you play football by the rules and hit people. You don't have to be wusses and target defenseless players.
@ 2:48 Wow...you almost got one right!!! But almost isn't good enough. Tukuafu grabs the horse collar...but Locker falls forward. It's only a penalty if the player grabs, then drags or yanks the player down by the collar. Clearly that didn't happen here, right?
I'm starting to get why BJC did all those classless penalties. Nobody in Idaho knows the rules of college football! Or anything about college football for that matter.
Holy carp this win shut you
Holy carp this win shut you trash talkers down in a hurry.... Goes to show what fairweather fans you are... I can only assume that Bduck, mightyducks and Macy are getting manhandled by duck fans as we speak for retribution............ Funny stuff, cause if we'd have losty by 1 point, there'd be no hearing the end of it from these idiots..............
# 4 on the list...
...but #1 on on the most likely to never visit. After they get smoked on 9/3 there is zero chance of Game Day coming to turd town, unless of course the Hee Haw gang hosts their own version.
Why on earth would Gameday, a major big time college football event even consider BluPee Stadium, home of a measley 32,000 fans and that stench...dream on donkeys!!!
You lose on all fronts as per usual!!
Rack Me I am back and its gonna be a fun week!!!!!
duck pen
Herbstreit listed Bronco Stadium at No. 4 on a list of places College GameDay needs to visit.
the hen house wasn't on the list
gameday
gameday has already been to Eugene. Twice in one year at that. His list was only of places they havent been to yet. 4th on that list. woooohooo
Yet everyone (duck
Yet everyone (duck fans)tells BSU not to live in the past.......... "Ooh Game Day has been here twice". I'll bet you hookered up real nice for that one.....
thats a good one
"hookered up real nice". Thats hilarious! Very po-dunk, backwoods even. I bet you can play the dueling banjos song from Deliverance. Say something else, I'm laughing my azz off.
Glad to see you can relate.
Glad to see you can relate. I figured you would :-).................
I'll wait till morning to
I'll wait till morning to hear your response... It was prolly a long night with the duck fans for you. Did they make you paint your face like a Bronco? You should've charged them extra for that. I'd say hold a 19 - 8 rate exchange... Would've been exciting for both of you!!!!!!!!!!!
Word to Macy
Gameday made its' first EVER trip out west in 2000 to Eugene to watch an up and coming, yet unranked Oregon take on #6 I believe UCLA...a win. They never come out west because they didn't believe fans would get to the stadium by 5:30am (9am EST start time) to support their team and Gameday show. That changed with Oregon though..They call this their favorite place to visit.
Also in 2007..they made an unprecedented 2 visits to Eugene because they loved it so much. Definitely Corso's favorite place and Herbstreit wanted to move his family here.
Remember all those "living
Remember all those "living in the past" comments, they're going to bite you in the a**...
Speaking of living in the
Speaking of living in the past... Remember when BSU came to Autzen on 2008? Oh, wait, they beat us..... Remember when we went to crush them on their blue turf in 2009 ...... D'oh..... I'll just go call Macy up now...... Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, Hello do you take debit cards?................ My name..... Blount... Don't laugh or I'lll Donkey punch you.....
Hey u never answered the
Hey u never answered the question of whether your Walmart paycheck was gonna be enough for you to travel over to Boise and see the game?
The best part is as you duck
The best part is as you duck fans are getting all lathered up and in a tizzy, what have you really accomplished if you do win? You beat a lowly WAC team. That's what you're pinning this proposed glory on? I can see the headlines now... The mighy Ducks beat a WAC team. How's that any different than us playing Idaho St or Weber St which you guys continually bash the Broncos on?
Lack of Smack
BDuck2009, I've got to hand it to you. What you lack in smack you make up for with your wacked out twin X chromosomes. Piece of advise, loosen your bra you wee girl, its cutting off the circulation to your head. Don't you think its time to move out of your parents basement and stop smoking the grape stems, you costal hillbilly? Bronco's 42 quacks 28
Cause Moscow is a Suburb of Oregon
That is, I really think that most of these "Ducks" that are rude are Vandals. There are certainly Ducks around, but I think most that are being annoying are really just the jealous ones up north.
You still act like Paris
Ducks are the college football version of Paris Hilton...they're famous for no reason, they look pretty and they got a rich daddy!!
So what does that make BSU?
Better Paris Hilton than an inbred Nazi with a severe inferiority complex.
Oh...and just so you know that quote was made up by a Beaver fan. Never did Herbstreit ever say that in any show or interview.
And yet more proof that
And yet more proof that people from Eugene need to get out a little more. The world doesn't revolve around you... I'd hardly say that a couple hundred Aryans that've been kicked out of the state represent Idaho any more than the eco-terrorists and hippies represent Eugene.
The irony is.... If you were
The irony is.... If you were to come here for the game, I'd invite you over to watch it with us and share some brews... Could you say the same?
more hilarity
yeah Im sure any Duck fan that goes there to see the game would be more than happy to hang out with you at your parents house watching it on tv with some cold brews. Irony? Pretty full of yourself arent you? Whats wrong, you cant get donk fans to come over and watch it with you?
You are a bitter little
You are a bitter little wrech aren't you? Too bad.... Oh well, keep living in your past glories and keep on hating the rest of the world. I'm sure it will work out for you somehow...
not bitter
Im not bitter at all. After your numerous hooker and stripper comments, there is no way in hell I will be nice to your fat, old, ugly, smelly, greasy, dirtball, backwoods, po-dunk donk lovin azz. You really are full of your ignorant self arent you? Or are you just stupid? You degrade someone repeatedly and you just cant believe it when they are rude back to you. Probably never had a date have you? I bet your right hand turns you down. Or are you a southpaw? Maybe you should put on your velcro gloves and head on out to the herd of sheep you call your family. Now dont be bitter, send me back a nice reply preacher boy.
Lets see, you came on here
Lets see, you came on here insulting everyone and anyone who is a Bronco fan and then get surpised by our comments? You really are a tool. It is funny though, that you think you have it all figured out....
Word on the street
The Duck fans know a loss is near.
BOOM there goes the entire year for them.
The QB transfers to another school and ultimately, girls field hockey becomes the predominant relentlessly hyped Program.
HUMMMM aren't their colors the same as BAYLOR, maybe not but pretty close.
Even Kirk hates the ducks
I loved Kirk's remark about the ducks a couple days ago: The Oregon Ducks are the Paris Hilton of the college football world. They have a rich daddy, they look good, but what have they ever really done???
