DIRT Clods do July: garden volunteers needed
DIRT Clods announce July’s DIRTy deed:
This month, one of our favorite crews of intrepid volunteers — United Way’s D.irect I.mpact R.esponse T.eam, is helping out Hays Shelter Home. The team needs you.
The Hays Home provides 24-hour emergency care and crisis services to kids ages 9 through 17. While they’re at the home, kids participate in normal daily activities — school, chores, recreational activities and community outings, while getting counseling.
Hays is working on an exciting project, developing a community garden that will produce fresh vegetables for their neighbor, a retirement home across the street.
The garden crew needs some extra hands to help Hays residents give back to their community. The DIRT team will help prepare the garden for planting alongside the kids who are living there, 11 a.m.-noon, Thursday, July 30.
Reserve your volunteer spot online.

Good for them. It's 100F most every day and I'm exhausted.
Aren't there people there who should have the incentive to grow their own?
