Timberline names new boys basketball coach

Josh Downey was recently hired to replace Dave Roberts as Timberline High boys basketball coach after leading Heritage High in Vancouver, Wash., to a stunning turnaround in his only season at the school.

Downey inherited a Heritage team that finished the 2007-08 season with a 0-20 record. He guided the team to a 14-11 record and the school’s first district championship in 2008-09.

Dave Roberts resigned as Timberline boys basketball coach after being hired as principal at East Junior High. The Wolves finished the 2008-09 season 12-10 and didn't qualify for the 5A state tournament.

It blows me away that the

It blows me away that the BSD would hire someone from out of state to teach and coach in the same year that they let 120 employees go due to budget cuts and over staffing. I know for fact that there are qualified people within the district that could have taken this job.
