New bike corral in Downtown Boise

ImageIf you've ever seen the bike rack at the post office on the corner of 8th and Bannock streets in Boise on a Saturday morning, it's a jumbled mess with bikes all over the place. That's good. People are riding bikes instead of driving cars.

That's why it was a pleasant surprise to see a new bike corral on the other side of the street in front of Thomas Hammer Coffee.

The corral is an experiment by Capital City Development Corporation to see how they work downtown. Bike racks are getting maxed out in some places downtown and the 18-bike corral is expected to help out.

The corral at 8th and Bannock will especially be helpful on Saturday's during the public market. A lot of folks ride their bikes to the market.

See more details in my Sunday column in the Idaho Statesman. More bike corrals could be planned.

This is WONDERFUL!

A central dropoff for theft and abandonment!

Government ROCKS!

PS They released Bikeboy, is he incognito?

Wow, it's like havin hundreds on the TP roll.

In "Edge City" governament has no cash so we just tie up bikes to a gas meter. Bike is always there at quiting time.

Bikes downtown - get ready for ruts

They may need to corral bikes after they cut ruts all over downtown for the trolley - I heard tracks all over for us to jump and slip into - that stinks. To make it better when we fall down we can look up and see the new powerlines all over the currently clear skies because I heard the power company was putting up overhead lines all over to make the trolley run. This is a conspiracy that needs action, or maybe we corral our bikes and just quit going downtown.

Ever seen railroad crossings? Good, for once I can debunk...

even though I'm still against it. There are plenty of these things in Europe etc. so perhaps you and that info box party of yours should search.
