Lots of kudos...for guns and Girl Scouts!

Kudos to sportsmen and women: Rod and gun raffles bring in the donations

Sporting store raffles during the 4th of July holiday weekend gave the Boise Rescue Mission a leg up on donations.

Alpha Omega Services gun store, Archery Outfitters, and Howard’s Tackle Shoppe hosted food drives and raffles for Boise Rescue Mission.

Together, the shops collected over 11,000 lbs of canned food and hundreds of dollars in cash donations.

Winning raffle tickets were chosen on Independence day.

Featured raffle prizes included a 1927 A1 Deluxe Tommy Gun with 1,000 rounds of ammo, a Bushnell Spotting Scope, a G-Loomis Rod & a Shimano Reel, and a PSE Brute Bow package “ready to shoot” including six arrows.

Not often that I have cause to use the word "ammo" in this blog.

Kudos to Girl Scouts: Local food banks are getting sweeter

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council, in partnership with J. R. Simplot Company, is donating no fewer than 2,500 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to various food aid agencies in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and Boise.

Cool in our book, as we believe everyone needs a cookie.

For more about the giveaway: Paige Weber: 377-2011 ext. 126.

And so you know, The Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council works with over 5,000 girls, and 2,000 adult volunteers in 42 counties in southern Idaho, eastern Oregon, and parts of northern Nevada.

Did you know it only costs $12 per year to be a Girl Scout? A steal at twice the price.

For more information on Girl Scout programs, and how you can get involved as a scout or a volunteer, visit the website or call 377-2011.

Now you need Girl Scouts w/guns, cookies AND hacked CPUs.

Oh wait, they had a really silly TV show along those lines...
