Sick and uninsured
Anyone's heart would go out to a guy like Richard Day. He was lost his job, and his health insurance, in the RV industry in November. In May, he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Unable to pay for the expensive treatment, liens were placed on his property and he was declared indigent. "That word bothers me more than anything," he said.
Richard is a warm, generous, thoughtful guy. I appreciate his willingness to let me photograph him during his radiation treatment on Thursday morning at St. Luke's.
See Monday's paper for Coleen LaMay's story about Richard and his situation.

Ah America...
what a country. I wish simple-minded "patriots" would accept that this country has some big problems that we need to work on. That said, I still love my country!
Since it IS America, we treat him even if he is terminal...
and we hope hard for a cure. He is blessed, whether he likes it or not ;-)
