Fire Department gets help from local golf tournament

Good news is expected Friday for the Boise Fire Department's fire prevention programs, and the Boise Fire Union Local 149 Burnout Fund. The second annual Light My Fire Gold Tournament will give a donation of approximately $7,000 to the causes at Warm Springs Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

The Boise Fire Union Burnout Fund helps support families burned out of their homes.

Raffle Rifle for Boise Rescue Mission

Not much time is left. Alpha Omega Services gun store will draw the winning ticket for a new rifle on July 4. Donate two cans of non-perishable food, or $1, and you will get a raffle ticket for a 1927 A1 Deluxe Tommy Gun with 1,000 rounds of ammo.

One hundred percent of the proceeds generated go directly to benefit Boise Rescue Mission.

There is no limit to the number of entries. Cases and pallets of food welcome.

The last raffle held by Alpha Omega in April, collected ten tons of food for Boise Rescue Mission’s hungry and homeless.

Good news for garden lovers

This year’s garden tour that covered seven gardens on the Boise Bench last weekend, attracted 850 visitors. That’s an increase over last year, when 720 people participated.

The tour, organized by the Lunaria League, the nonprofit fundraising branch of the Idaho Botanical Garden, raises money for IBG programs.

The garden is also looking for volunteers to help out with its 25th anniversary celebrations, beginning Friday, June 26. Help is needed Friday evening for the Enchanted Gala, Saturday night at the Summer Garden Party, and all day Sunday for the Pancake Brunch and Family Day.

Many jobs, and many shifts are available. Jobs include set up/take down crew, runners, greeters and more.
